new stuff, but I’m still not seeing anything other than Critical

Hi,
Ok we now seem to have it a little further. At your request by adding a dummy
host seems to have sorted the issue.
Any thoughts as to why this may be?

No matter how often I restart nagios, the new host isn't being monitored.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the number of hosts you add.
You just have added a host with a bad configuration, which was
clearly showed by the first post you made. Nagios even tells
you what the
Check the Configuration tab in nagios web interface, there it shows the
live config aka. what it read and loaded.
You probably need to add the new config to your nagios.cfg file, so Nagios
can read it. You also have a parameter in nagios.cfg, that you can set to a
folder, and it reads all *.cfg
Hi,
Sorry have to disagree with you on this.
If you read the thread you will see that the error referenced is from the
template.cfg that was not been modified.

No, it states an error in a host.cfg that you tried to use
a template definition that does not exist. I sincerely doubt
that
start nagios with
nagios -v nagios.cfg
You have a error in you config file. The above command will provide you
with a detailed output, and you will see in what line the error is .. Go and
fix it and retry.

Thanks for replying.
I have investigated syslogs on the hosting system,
but no clue about the dead of ndo2db was found.
Nagios 3.1.2, NDOUtils 1.4b8 and MySQL 5.0.67 are built from empty,
therefore there should be no upgrading issue
Thanks

Try setting the debug_level to the highest (ndo2db.cfg). check the
appropriate file permissions on ndo2db.debug.
And maybe apply the mods-sql-script for 1.4b8.

It's almost entirely .htaccess configuration that you need, I expect.
