have a look in the /etc/cron.d/ directory, there should be the file that's
causing this.

OK, the parents defintion could be misleading...
Maybe better to explain with servicegrous, there you can define the
rough_nrpe
dependent_from nrpe
}
or as a "better" way to define the service one is dependent from like this:
define service{
service_description health_nrpe
dependent_from nrpe
...
}
like the "parent" we have at hosts.
create multiple servicedependency definition with the
same service_description (same master)? Has anyone tested this already?

just copy your /etc/nagios directory to the new server and all your
configuration will be there. On the new Server nagiosql should be able to
reread the configuration.

you can simply write the domain name to only_from.
If you use the hosts.allow you could even exclude the only_from line from the
xinetd configuration by setting 3 in front of the line.

define the check-host-alive in your templates, so if you have some
hosts that don't accept icmp-packets you can change it to any checkcommand
you want.
Have a look into the documentation at host definition

It doesn't matter if the hosts are gone after a restart of the nagios server.
