Estou com um problemão:
De uns dias prá cá, eu faço alterações nos arquivos .cfg dos hosts, ou mesmo
removo/incluo algum host, mas quando reinicio o Nagios, as alterações que fiz,
assim como as inclusões não aparecem no Nagios.
Ou seja, num certo momento, parece que o Nagios congelou

Observou se tem somente uma instância do nagios rodando? Eu tive um problema
parecido e uma instancia estava presa por isso as alterações não surtiam
efeito, nem com o stop essa instancia morria.

Mas faça o seguinte: Dê um service nagios stop e veja no log quando ele
termina. Depois veja se sobrou algum processo, usando o ps -aux e mate-o sem
dó, com kill -9.
Depois dê um service nagios start.
Verifique se o nagiosql tem

If only! I usually end up using a generous portion of trial-and-error
to find something that works. Sometimes you have to escape the escape
characters that will be used

use it for any DNS diagnostics. I'm working on a replacement for check_dns
which does its own DNS work rather than relying on shelling out to something
