tube works perfectly, but when cathode 1 is lit for some seconds or minutes,
it bends a bit (because of the heat) and slightly touches the 8. Then 1 and
8 are lit together.

That's one reason, I haven't chucked it. But, I look at it as, bringing
back Walt Disney's frozen corpse, from the dead. Not getting my hopes up
too high.
