Now GLAXIU (sp?) works file.
When I doomlegacy the screen goes black ; I hear shooting etc; then
the box pops up and says:
Mode 1920x1080.
I now think the problem is specific to DOOM. What can I try --
specific to doomlegacy?

Correct the permissions on /dev/dri/card0 (chmod 660 /dev/dri/card0).

NetBSD knows as it did attach the nouveau driver at boot.
