I dozed off after Daily Show but just got a little charge of adrenaline after walking outside to lock car and close garage. Despite SW wind direction, birds seem to be flying quite low over Gaithersburg tonight. Just put my gear out. Heard White-throated Sparrows and at least 1 Hermit Thrush. W

Andrew, I'm not sure this is entirely explained by migrating birds. It looks like most of the targets northwest of Philadelphia appear to have velocities of 5kts or less, which is indicative of ground clutter. This occurs when the radar beam is bent back down towards the earth's surface and hits

Andrew- are you referring to the Fort Dix radar? I'm looking at all the radars covering PA and NJ and the only thing I'm seeing that could be confused with birds is over the Fort Dix radar.
