Glad you liked them George. I was fun to share the experiences and also
helps to sort of keep a journal of all the places visited (after a few days
everything starts to blend a bit). I want to write a little something
called "things I learned". Hopefully I will find the time once I am settle
in.
Wow, what a beauty! Would love to take a ride on that.

I have tried just about everything, and I am finally going to give up and
take it to my mechanic to see what magic he can do to it. It's starting to
get dark and wet up here in Seattle, so I'm hoping he can get it out
quicker than I have been able.
Which raises a second question... Just in
I completely dissemble and cleaned...again!

If the seals aren't torn or worn you can run a piece of plastic around the
forks and clean the grit and dirt out. Check out 'seal ate' to see what I'm
talkin about. Old 35 mm film will work just as well

I got mine pretty smooth. I think it cut the old new seals and caused the leak.
We will see if they hold. Good to know about $200/pair. Not as bad as I was
afraid.

If you think about it, $200 for a quality pair of fork tubes is pretty
cheap. Buying OEM you're going to be in that range EACH, and buying used
will still put you in the 100-150 range for good condition ones.

Thank you all. I googled and found out that I can sand them down. I did that
and got the burrs off and polished it back up. I will give that a try and see
how it works red leaking.

I bought a pair from frank when I did my 650. A perfect match, very high
quality, not cheap around $200 or so if I remember right.

They aren't stainless, they're hard chrome plated.
You could try to have yours reconditioned, or you can source some
replacements.
I've heard good things about a company called "Forking by Frank"
http://www.frankmain.qpg.com/
I believe Racetech also offers some in the right size.
I plan on
Ok, rebuilding mine and they are scratched pretty bad. I am looking for some
forks that have no rust or scratches on the tubes. All my other parts are
fine, just need the stainless tubes. Anyone?
