I've been living in Hawaii for 11 years. Going back to California is
always a little bit of a learning curve for me. Driving at 70+ on a
regular basis is different.
When I was doing 55 in the carpool lane the traffic next to me was doing
maybe 30/35. The carpool lanes have lots of space
No such double lines over here... Drivers constantly change lanes so I don't
plan to try this :-)

For the most part 55 in the car pool lane in the LA area is on the slow
side. A motorcycle going 55 would have a lot of cars running up their
backside. I lane split, but NOTHING like the guy in the video. Cars jump in
and out of the carpool lane across the double yellow line ALL the time!

I was just down in LA for business. I was blown away at the way they lane
split. This guy is really calm compared to some of the other guys I saw.
I was doing 55 in the car pool lane and a bike split the lane next to me
doing at least 15+ over my speed. Crazy stuff and a good way to die.
