I finaly got around to installing a set of rebuilt carbs I bought for
my 84 650 nighthawk but now I cant seem to get the carbs to close down
like they should meaning after I let off the throttle they dont seem
to want to return back to idle like it should I cant tell if its the
cables that are the

Mine used to act real funny until I rebuilt them and reset the sync between the
carbs. Idle would go up and down, and when I released the throttle, the rpms
would float a little.

Have you checked the condition of your return cable? Had the same problem on
my '83 550 and it was my return cable that needed adjusted.
