Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Fuel Petcock Leak - CB700SC Nighthawk S - Need Advice!

2019-09-09 Thread Holger Selover-Stephan
I ordered from what looked like the same kit for a little less:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PETCOCK-REBUILD-GASKET-KIT-CB650-CB650SC-CB750SC-CB900-CB1000-CB1100-CB1100F/172153138754

…but it doesn’t fit the petcock on the '83 650SC. The seller explained his kit
“is for the petcock with the settlement bowl”, which, evidently, the 650’s
isn’t.

Back to the hunt…

For the $8, I might just order another one, throw it away and keep the
gasket for the 700S. Bloody waste, but only source I know of.

2019-07-25 Thread Graham Rogers
The ring you are talking about behind the turn knob is secured by rivets.
You have to drill them out to get to it, (then tap and screw new screws to
put it back together). The rebuild kit does not include that metal pressure
ring.
Start with the other side, the vacuum rebuild kit. I would check them first
before ordering anything. Sometimes they just need cleaning.

just come out, it was very much stuck in place.

The diameter of the gasket is 2.8 MM

He hole in the middle shouldn’t matter. The valve rotates to align with the
larger holes to allow gas to go nowhere, from main tank, and from reserve.
Last hole goes around a peg (or bump) to prevent it turning. The center hole

Just saw a 1984 700S in a junk yard. It is mostly complete but in bad
shape. Sitting outside for years. I saw the same bike in the owners yard
about 5 years ago. Junk yard only wants $100 for it. Too much work in it
for me. Exhausts and mufflers are good. Engine was good 5 years ago.

Brian, your info is helpful, the only alternative I found was
$165 on ebay (too much). if I cannot get the new washer, I will
probably order from the impex web site that you provided (knowing that you
had success in ordering it from them)

that part for other Honda applications and would take the chance for
$20 just wanted your input before I order it.

Thank you for taking the time to look kiwin

Brian, your info is helpful, the only alternative I found was
$165 on ebay (too much). if I cannot get the new washer, I will
probably order from the impex web site that you provided (knowing that you
had success in ordering it from them)

Thank you both for helping me with this issue.

hope that you get the tapping done without any troubles. I had the same
issue and was unsuccesful twice. I ordered a brand new one from
https://en.impex-jp.com/ you just need to know the part number. I just did
a quick search and the part needed is just the main petcock body part
number 16951-MJ1-015

Impex has it for about $65 plus shipping. I hope you don't have to order

a quick search and the part needed is just the main petcock body part

Impex has it for about $65 plus shipping. As always photos of the work you
