Re: [ns] urgently need help on tclawk file
Hi, In your case where you are having 5 nodes. If you have only 1 source node and 1 destination node, then you just have to attache the source node with traffic source agent and destination node with null/sink agent. Regarding your throughput and delay, you must have used wrong method or wrong script to analyze your trace file. Cross check your script which analyzes the trace file whether it is taking all the send and receive packets properly or not. There are many links available on google who have many AWK scripts to analyze trace file to calculate througput, delay and other performance metric parameters. You can use them and before using them verify those scripts properly. Re: [ns] Installing multiple versions of NS and using NS2.28 in Ubuntu 10.04
Hi Naren, Thanks for replying. I have few more queries: 1) Is it possible to install NS2.28 version in ubuntu 10.04 along with NS2.34 because, NS2.28 need older version of otcl and Tcl/tk, while NS2.34 require comparatively newer version, since both the conditions cannot be fulfilled at the same time so shouldn't be there any problem installing both the versions? 2) After installing any NS2 version we usually set the path variables so that we can execute them from any directory, doesnt copying the executables from ns-allinone-2.34/bin directory copy all executable file and past in user/local/bin.. changes the path variables? Re: [ns] graph for throughput
Hi, One approch which i used was in the AWK script (which gives you final throughput), you can put a loop with let say time =1, which means the script will calculate the throughput for every 1 sec and it will give you corresponding throughput for every 1 sec which can then be stored in a file and can be plotted. If you want to change the duration than you will just need to change the time from time=1 to some other value. If anyone has any other approch than please share.. Also apart from this, the error warning: Please use -channel as shown in tcl/ex/wireless-mitf.tcl is just a warning and it wil not affect your simulation and results in any way. Though its a good practice to use the new version of specifying the channel in TCL file and that new method of specifying the channel is provided in wireless-mitf.tcl a already provided TCL file with NS2 installation. Also the tool provided in the below link is not very handy (thats what i felt when i used it) as the tcl file generated by that tool for 50 nodes will be a huge file and if you get any error than it will be little complicated for you to debug it as you are new user. Why is this so? 2) Instead of defining cbr rate in Mb if i define the rate in Kb or i just define it 0.1, than the umber of packets sent in 1 sec is only 1. Why is this so? 3) while calculating the average delay of the network, should we take into account the dropped packet as well? and if yes than what end time should we take for dropped packets. 4) how can we put the varying data rate and average delay of the network together in 1 file (either through awk script or through tcl file) so that i can plot the curve between network load and average network delay?
