Re: [ns] urgently need help on tclawk file

2011-11-24 Thread ankur goyal

Hi,

In your case where you are having 5 nodes. If you have only 1 source node
and 1 destination node, then you just have to attache the source node with
traffic source agent and destination node with null/sink agent.

Regarding your throughput and delay, you must have used wrong method or
wrong script to analyze your trace file.

Cross check your script which analyzes the trace file whether it is taking
all the send and receive packets properly or not.

There are many links available on google who have many AWK scripts to
analyze trace file to calculate througput, delay and other performance
metric parameters. You can use them and before using them verify those
scripts properly.

[ns] Installing multiple versions of NS and using NS2.28 in Ubuntu 10.04

Hi All,

I want to install NS2.34 and NS2.28 both the versions in Ubuntu 10.04 and
would like to work on both the versions.

I did lot of search in NS2 old posts and google but did not find much
satisfactory answer and so i am posting this query again.

1) How shall i install both the versions in ubuntu 10.04 (i already have
NS2.34 installed and now want to install NS2.28 as well).
2) After installation, While executing any script, how the simulator will
understand which version to use
3) In so many old posts i read that NS2.28 is difficult to install in Ubuntu
10.04 due to old otcl and tcl/tk version requirement for NS2.28

Kindly help me in this or redirect me to some links which can help me to

2011-09-05 Thread ankur goyal

Hi Naren,

Thanks for replying.

I have few more queries:

1) Is it possible to install NS2.28 version in ubuntu 10.04 along with
NS2.34 because, NS2.28 need older version of otcl and Tcl/tk, while NS2.34
require comparatively newer version, since both the conditions cannot be
fulfilled at the same time so shouldn't be there any problem installing both
the versions?
2) After installing any NS2 version we usually set the path variables so
that we can execute them from any directory, doesnt copying the executables
from ns-allinone-2.34/bin directory copy all executable file and past in
user/local/bin.. changes the path variables?

you can install and could enjoy one at a time ..just install both in
 separate directory .
when you want to run NS2.34 go to the ns-allinone-2.34/bin directory
copy all executable file and past in user/local/bin..
and if you only want to run NS2.28 version then do the same as above it
will inactive your latest version and active NS2.28

 hope it will work.

There is a pre-made patch if you have the right version!

I hope you have already installed the OLSR patch in ur NS-2.

After installing you just have to put OLSR as routing protocol instead of
AODV for AODV file.

Re: [ns] graph for throughput

2011-02-08 Thread ankur goyal

Hi,

One approch which i used was in the AWK script (which gives you final
throughput), you can put a loop with let say time =1, which means the script
will calculate the throughput for every 1 sec and it will give you
corresponding throughput for every 1 sec which can then be stored in a file
and can be plotted.

If you want to change the duration than you will just need to change the
time from time=1 to some other value.

If anyone has any other approch than please share..

Re: [ns] Urgent Help Needed with running AODV on NS-2.34

2011-01-31 Thread ankur goyal

Hi Anoop,

As you said you have already generated the traffic file and scenario file
from the internal script provided in NS-2 installation than in your tcl
script there is no use to mention the below lines, you can simply scrap
these lines from your TCL script:

# Provide initial location of mobilenodes
#$node_(0) set X_ 10.0
#$node_(0) set Y_ 15.0

$node_(0) set Z_ 0.0

#$node_(1) set X_ 20.0
#$node_(1) set Y_ 25.0
#$node_(1) set Z_ 0.0

#$node_(2) set X_ 200.0
#$node_(2) set Y_ 225.0
#$node_(2) set Z_ 0.0

# Generation of movements
#$ns at 10.0 $node_(0) setdest 10.0 5.0 3.0
#$ns at 15.0 $node_(1) setdest 45.0 14.0 5.0
#$ns at 110.0 $node_(0) setdest 48.0 5.0 5.0

# Set a TCP connection between node_(0) and node_(1)
#set tcp [new Agent/TCP/Newreno]
#$tcp set class_ 2
#set sink [new Agent/TCPSink]
#$ns attach-agent $node_(0) $tcp
#$ns attach-agent $node_(1) $sink
#$ns connect $tcp $sink
#set ftp [new Application/FTP]
#$ftp attach-agent $tcp
#$ns at 10.0 $ftp start

Because if you see the traffic generation file and scenario file than you
will find alll these details are already present in those two file. Also
apart from this, the error

warning: Please use -channel as shown in tcl/ex/wireless-mitf.tcl

is just a warning and it wil not affect your simulation and results in any
way. Though its a good practice to use the new version of specifying the
channel in TCL file and that new method of specifying the channel is
provided in wireless-mitf.tcl a already provided TCL file with NS2
installation.

Also the tool provided in the below link is not very handy (thats what i
felt when i used it) as the tcl file generated by that tool for 50 nodes
will be a huge file and if you get any error than it will be little
complicated for you to debug it as you are new user.

Just for your understanding, refer to the 2 below link which i am providing
you. Also after some time i will provide you my simulation for AODV and DSR
for 50 nodes along with the awk script to play with the trace files. But

and their scripts.

I believe that there is something wrong in my script which i am not able to
figure out.

So can anyone provide me a tcl script for AODV, DSR and DSDV protocols such
that all the required data are extracted from trace files in TCL scripts
only rather than using AWK script separately.

Eagerly waiting for a quick reply as i need it urgently.

Thanks Regards,

[ns] queue size in wired topology

2010-08-15 Thread ankur goyal

Hi All,

Is it possible for wired scenario to have an infinite queue so that no
packets are dropped, though i will limit the number of sessions.

If it is possible than how shall i do this.

Thanks,

 Hi All,

I did find many scripts on internet but none of them is generalized. All
the scripts available requires the input as src node, dst node, flow etc,
but none of the scripts id for complete network.

Can anyone please help me in this.

[ns] difference in cbr rate

2010-08-07 Thread ankur goyal

Hi All,

I have few queries,

1) when we define cbr rate as $cbr_(0) set rate_ 0.1Mb and packet size as
$cbr_(0) set packetSize_ 512 this means that node should send app. 195
(0.1*1000*1000/512 = 195.32 Packets) packets in a second (Please correct me
if i am wrong). but when i run my simulation for 1 sec, I observe the number
of packets sent are only 25 packets.

Why is this so?

2) Instead of defining cbr rate in Mb if i define the rate in Kb or i just
define it 0.1, than the umber of packets sent in 1 sec is only 1.

Why is this so?

3) while calculating the average delay of the network, should we take into
account the dropped packet as well? and if yes than what end time should we
take for dropped packets.

4) how can we put the varying data rate and average delay of the network
together in 1 file (either through awk script or through tcl file) so that i
can plot the curve between network load and average network delay?

Please help me in the above queries.

Thanks,
Ankur

[ns] Help needed in simulating Q-Routing

2010-07-20 Thread ankur goyal

Hi,

I have to simulate Q-routing to see the performance of the network in low
and high load condition as mentioned in Justin boyne's paper. Can anyone
please help me to simulate this as NS2 is new to me. I have already read
many documents on Q-routing and NS manual, but i am still not able to code
Q-routing.

Please help me in simulation.

[ns] Need help in simulating Q-routing

2010-07-13 Thread ankur goyal

Hi,

As my final year project i have to simulate Q-routing and compare its
performance with shortest path routing method. I have read the theory of
both the routing techniques and i have understood how both the techniques
work. Now i have to simulate this in NS2 but i have never worked on this
software so it is getting really difficult to implement this in NS2. I tried
reading the NS manual and few more documents and tutorials provided on
internet but still i am not able to understand how to implement Q-routing in
NS2.

Can anyone please help me or guide me to implement this in NS2.

Awaiting for reply.

Thanks,
Ankur
