Re: [NSWolves] Doyle knee injury

2011-03-28 Thread Steven Millward
For a team that cost 15m to assemble I think we do quite well. You said
you'd be happy when we competed with the likes of Fulham, Everton and
Villa. I reckon we are competing with them but they have all bought single
players that cost about the same as our entire first XI. We have no right
to be any higher than we are, and I reckon under manay managers we would
have been relegated by now.

As for 451, it gets us results and is in line with the way that many of the
top teams around the world set up their formations. We control the midfield
and with two attacking wingers and two attacking midfielders we have enough
scoring options. It's paid off against some very good teams.

Putting a second man up front doesn't guarantee goals if you can't get the
ball to them or the defenders cover them in the absence of any other
attacking threat.

You must be getting mixed up with netball where only the front two are
allowed to score.

Now, you were about to explain the benefits of 442?

[NSWolves] Daylight Saving

2011-03-28 Thread Marcus Chantry
The change from daylight saving certainly helps with the viewing times
for a few of our remaining games:

Our matches against Everton & Sunderland will be @ 9:45pm (Sydney time)

Our matches against Birmingham & Baggies will be @ 9pm Sydney time

No excuses Steve ;-)

Play someone up front to score goals Paul?

Hang on, now you're suggesting we might play two forwards?

Hope Mick doesn't read that, his 97 year old heart couldn't take it.

Maybe cruciate ligament damage and out for the rest of the season. Just our
luck!!

SEB does not have the engine to play the same role as Doyle. Fletcher will
get the nod to play or we might change tactics and play both of them up
front!

Scan tomorrow. Could be out for a bit. Time for Fletch and/or SEB to step
up, and a big chance for them.

International football is toss.

Waving it 30k out of Sirte at the moment.
Thought it was waving in the town centre last night but found the ref had
disallowed it for offside.

When Gaddafi and maybe even Assad are kicked out I'll be able to concentrate
on football, or anti-football in Mick's case, again.

You'll have to do better than that to keep these debates going Rog. You're
the only person I'll have to argue with once Marcus comes to Mick's side.

For a team that cost 15m to assemble I think we do quite well. You said
you'd be happy when we competed with the likes of Fulham, Everton and Villa.
I reckon we are competing with them but they have all bought single players
that cost about the same as our entire first XI. We have no right to be any
higher than we are, and I reckon under manay managers we would have been
relegated by now.

I struggle to understand your love of our 4-5-1-0 formation.
Doyle's credited with 5 goals this season, that includes 2 penalties and a
Big George effort.
He'd at least have doubled his tally playing in any other team in this
division.
With almost any other manager from this division we wouldn't have spent two
seasons bouncing along the bottom.

I'm struggling to understand your love of 442 Rog.

Have you got any examples of modern teams that play a true 442 formation?
By modern, I measn not from the 1970s to the 1990s
