Re: [NSWolves] Sunnerland
Just for the avoidance of doubt, at what point does this cease to be true? I mean exactly how many players/games need to be bought through from the academy for it not to be a stick to beat Mick with? I won't count Henessey in this. Sorry, I haven't had an argument about Wolves for a few days so I need to stir something up. Re: [NSWolves] Sunnerland
O'Hara came from Spurs. Realistically, if players are not good enough for the top 8 their next stop will likely be Stoke/Bolton/Sunderland etc who spend more money on wages and have a better pedigree. Sorry but it just seems like moaning Paul. This is a money issue, not a management issue. You cannot blame Mick for the money he has available. He built our side out of odds and ends from the lower divisions, which was totally different to the big money signings from the Hayward era. I'm delighted that we have a manager that can spot talent at Gillingham and turn them into a potential England player. He has also brought through Henessey from the youth set up, and has recently tried Forde and Doherty. It's not a logical step to got from the youth academy to Premier league. There are several other players out on loan to get experience and make the transition gradually. "Surely we can splash 10 million?" That's half a season's gate receipts without having paid wages. Players that cost ten million are probably three million a year in wages. These ideas of "we should spend this" just aren't based in the financial reality of the Wolves business. "Worth a phone call" is another one that's easy to say to give the illusion that something is possible but why would Owen come to Wolves? RE: [NSWolves] Sunnerland
It's my wish list Steve. Bottom line is that we need player's that are better than those we currently have. Owen on a loan deal for the rest of the season might be attractive to SAF. He likes us, worth a phone call is all I'm saying. Tevez for the rest of the season is a visionary idea! He could keep us up single handed, ever considered applying for MM's job Steve? That's part of my point Steve, we don't seem to attract player's "like Charlie Adam" when they are exactly the type of player I think we need. When was the last time Wolves have been linked with a "big signing" from a top team or one that has not just been relegated? I can't think of one, anybody else have a better memory? If we can spend 7 million on Fletcher, 6.5 million on Doyle, supposedly 5 or 6 million on Johnson, surely we can push the boat out a bit and splash 10 million on a good midfielder. By the way Liverpool only paid Blackpool 7 million for Adam. If we aren't able to attract the "big signings" then we have to nurture and bring through the younger talent, something MM is reluctant to do. Therefore, we are just stagnating with the same old player's in the same old team formation, going nowhere! We need to change things to move forward in my opinion and MM appears to be too stuck in his ways / ideas to change. That is why we are struggling to stay up this season and will continue to struggle to stay up forever and a day with MM in charge.
