What you are proposing makes sense if you are writing macros which are supposed to work with any input encoding. But within a particular document you already know which input encoding you are using. If it's UTF-8, you don't need any macro at all. I recently revised the VnTeX documentation (written in LaTeX). UTF-8 is used as an input encoding there and whenever I had to write Thành's name, I just typed "Hàn Thế Thành" instead of using a macro. And why Martin Schr\"oder instead of Martin Schröder? The last time I wrote \"o instead of ö in a document was in 1994, just before LaTeX-2e was released. But both, LaTeX and Context, support UTF-8 now. Is the normal(?) behaviour broken and the solution in your url a workaround? These are the context things which are very frustrating for a normal user and one may come to the conclusion that only the enlightend guru can use this system. [NTG-context] Grid typesetting, colums and vertical spacing
Hello, I'm trying to typeset on the grid, but I also need to reduce vertical spacing around headings. Unfortunately when i specify the 'before/after' setting for head, grid typesetting fails. Is there any option to make \blank more flexible? (I'm using MKII) example: \setupoutput[pdftex] \setuppapersize[A4,landscape][A4,landscape] \setuplayout[backspace=0.5cm,topspace=0.5cm,top=0cm,footer=0.5cm, width=middle,height=middle,margin=0cm,header=0cm] \setupbodyfont[10pt] \mainlanguage[cz] \enableregime[utf8] \setuppagenumbering[location=] \setuphead[section][style={\bf}] \setuphead[section][before={\blank[halfline,flexible]}] % not working well % \setuphead[section][after={\blank[halfline,flexible]}] % not working well \starttext \setuplayout[grid=yes] \showgrid \definecolumnset[my][n=4,distance=1.2em,balance=yes] % balance not work \startcolumnset[my] \section{Pokus} \input knuth \input knuth \subsection{Pokus 2} \input knuth \input knuth \input knuth \subsection{Pokus 3} \input knuth \stopcolumnset \stoptext greetings Jan -- Ing. Re: [NTG-context] LuaTeX beta-0.60.0 on Mac OS X Tiger (was: Latest beta...)
Dear Tiger users of ConTeXt minimals, I have another tiny request for you. Can you please download luatex version 3520 and 3559 for your platform from http://dl.contextgarden.net/misc/luatex/ rename it into luatex and do chmod +x luatex to make sure that it's executable. Then replace that version of luatex with the one in your ConTeXt distribution. It would be nice to know which versions fail to work to make it easier to debug. Thanks a lot, Mojca PS for Dick: this is the promissed version of cross-compiled LuaTeX - the version 3590 is the one equivalent to the latest beta that certainly fails to work (Bus error). ___ If your question is of interest to others as well, please add an entry to the Wiki! maillist : ntg-context@ntg.nl / http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context webpage : http://www.pragma-ade.nl / http://tex.aanhet.net archive : http://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/contextrev/ wiki : http://contextgarden.net ___

[NTG-context] page-break
Dear list members, My biggest problem have always been seemingly arbitrary page breaks occuring every now and then in larger documents; and because I don't see a pattern, I can't create a minimal example. But maybe you can make a suggestion based on the following: The section below produces a page break seen in http://www.ogbasel.ch/version-1.pdf. If the line "\page[no]" is inserted, the page break occurs as shown in http://www.ogbasel.ch/version-page-no.pdf Mark IV, on linux and Leopard Context version 2010.03.02 12:34 The font is Gentium at 10.5 Thanks, Jörg -snip-- {\bf Grauammer} -- {\it Bruant proyer} -- Emberiza calandra: Am 28.2. konnte LEU einen Sänger in der PCA feststellen.
