I already had that when writing a small script to output PDF by hand. To be precise, on Mac OS 10.5 I need “fr_FR.UTF-8” to reproduce this behaviour, not “fr_FR.utf8” which looks a bit suspicious. I have already heard that the French version of some mainstream Linux distribution (Ubuntu, I think) set locales to the absurd value “français”, which was a problem not only because it was absolutely not standard, but also because the system couldn't guess what encoding the ‘ç’ was in! Re: [NTG-context] \indenting[next] and math => no vertical space before the formula
Thank you Wolfgang, Aditya and Hans for your kind answers. Today the new ubuntu was released, and I did upgrade. That was not too smart: With the newer TeXLive in ubuntu 8.04 came an updated ConTeXt which gave me the problem explained in http://archive.contextgarden.net/message/20070830.154143.005528b8.en.html again. Since I am finishing my PhD thesis and really want to use the utopia+fourier fonts, I downgraded to an old ConTeXt minimal for now. I have not managed to get Wolfgang's solution to work (just tried to copy that definition to my file, and that did not change the vertical space. I will try to make the change in core-mat.tex now). However, some questions remain: 1) I also tried the new context minimal with LuaTeX (to see if it worked better there) and found out that the fourier fonts are not included in the minimals anymore. Are there any plans to include them? Or to make some kind of package with these and other nice free fonts? 2) Will the problem from http://archive.contextgarden.net/message/20070830.154143.005528b8.en.html go away in the near future (of new versions)? From the answers to that question I did not really get if the problem was a big one or not. Best Regards, Micke P PS I am impressed by the speed of LuaTeX. It compiled my document in ~20s instead of 1-2 minutes. Metapost is for drawing all kinds of graphics. It give you a very fine control on where to place objects, and is very well integrated with ConTeXt (your labels will be the same font as the rest of the document). With the new mplib, using metapost in ConTeXt is very fast (for me I do not notice any difference; with mkii it used to take aboud 3-4 sec). Graphviz is good for automatic positioning of nodes. If you have a large number of nodes, it can figure out the best way to place them. There are different versions, dot (for directed graphs), circo (for circular graphs), neato (for undirected graphs), fps (uses a different model for undirected graphs). [NTG-context] MetaPost v1.003: graph package broken
A note from the MetaPost developers: We have noticed an incompatibility between the latest MetaPost v1.003 and the graph package. Severity is considered high, since it prevents compilation of even the most simple figures. The problem is identified and a fix is under way. A workaround is not possible. Users of the graph package should not update to MetaPost v1.003. MetaPost versions 1.002 and prior are not affected. [NTG-context] correct installation gnuplot module question
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 HI! I have minimal context installation installed in my $USER/ctx-test/ directory tree and have two questions. First: I've downloaded the 2007.02.16 zip and placed the containing 3 files in my case $USER/ctx-test/tex/texmf-context/tpm/t-gnuplot.tpm $USER/ctx-test/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/third/gnuplot/t-gnuplot.tex $USER/ctx-test/tex/texmf-context/metapost/context/base/mp-gnuplot.mp Then $ mktexlsr and then texexec gnuplot-test.tex Following code in my tex file \mainlanguage[sv] \enableregime[utf] \usemodule[gnuplot] \setupGNUPLOT[terminal=mp] \startGNUPLOTscript[datatest] set xlabel "Halloj" set ylabel "hej" plot 'testdata.dat' \stopGNUPLOTscript \starttext \useGNUPLOTgraphic[datatest] \stoptext gnuplot works ok on my system but context cannot produce the pdf-file that includes in the document. Complains about a missing "gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp-0.pdf"( see attached logfile) Following files was created in the directory [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/context/gnuplot$ ls -l totalt 1556 - -rw--- 1 janne janne 1431174 2008-03-25 10:14 gnuplot.pdf - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne4477 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp.0 - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 291 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp.log - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne5869 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp.mp - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne5641 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp.mp.keep - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne7440 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp.mpx - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne1604 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp-temp.dvi - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 5 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1-mp-temp-mpgraph.mp - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 119 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-gnuplot-1.plt - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne9595 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test.log - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 5 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test-mpgraph.mp - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 39373 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test.pdf - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 241 2008-04-23 23:32 gnuplot-test.tex - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 231 2008-04-23 23:30 gnuplot-test.tex~ - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 269 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test.tmp - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 17983 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test.tui - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 812 2008-04-24 08:38 gnuplot-test.tuo - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 5 2008-04-24 08:38 mpgraph.mp - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 33 2008-04-23 23:20 testdata.dat - -rw-r--r-- 1 janne janne 1 2008-04-23 23:18 testdata.dat~ See the attached logfile. [NTG-context] urw garamond typescript
Great, now it works! (with luatex-r1188 and context-beta) The typescript from Hans at the end of this message works fine. Some questions for my understanding: - Why 2 \starttypescript-\stoptypescript sections, and not 1? - What does "\setups[font:fallback:serif]" mean? - What is \definetypeface for? - What is the meaning of each parameter of \definetypeface? - Why does the third \starttypescript only have one parameter and no [serif]? After playing around with the typescript, I got the following minmal typescript, that seems to give the same result: \starttypescript [urwgaramond] \definefontsynonym [Serif] [file:GaramondNo8-Reg] \definefontsynonym [SerifBold] [file:GaramondNo8-Med] \definefontsynonym [SerifItalic] [file:GaramondNo8-Ita] \definefontsynonym [SerifBoldItalic] [file:GaramondNo8-MedIta] \definetypeface [\typescriptone] [] [serif] [\typescriptone] \stoptypescript \usetypescript[urwgaramond] \setupbodyfont[urwgaramond] I strongly believe, that Hans' typescript is better, could somebody explain why? Re: [NTG-context] ctxtools --updatecontext
Taco, Thanks. But it works in my office, but not in my colleague's office. I have gwtex and he has mactex. Admitting my ignorance, what is a proxy server? D.
