[NTG-context] Setupparagraphnumbering

2013-04-04 Thread Diego Depaoli
Hi all,
since I got the same issue reported in that unanswered question
http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2011/064172.html, before
switch from the 0.70 version installed by default in Ubuntu to another
one, is the \setupparagraphnumbering command supposed to work well
now?

My best regards

in pdftex or xetex the arrange switch is always needed, in luatex page

Thanks Wolfgang for the reply, but this isn't exactly what I was looking for.
As you can see here
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Framed
the box isn't filled on the right side because Context, in such way,
formats the text.
What I was looking for is a 'snaked' output where the text follows in
a new line once it reaches the right side of the box.

However I get a weird behaviour.

\definepapersize[manif][width=986mm,height=660mm]
\setuppapersize[manif][manif]
\showgrid
\switchtobodyfont[14pt]

Why last lines are empty?
I must specify in layout a textheight and a height bigger than the

I'm missing such option?

Sorry Wolfgang, but I can't get wanted result
Consider follow example

\starttext

\framed {This box is far from previous line}

\framed {This box is near previous line}
\startitemize

regarding previous line}

\dontleavehmode\framed {Here too}

[NTG-context] Setting framed

2009-03-21 Thread Diego Depaoli
Hi all,
in my text each section ends with an one-line box so I used \framed
(thinking that's the right way).
How to put each box at the same distance from last previous line even
it comes after a list, a table, a regular text...?
There is an the option to set the \framed's font globally?

Thanks in advance

[NTG-context] metapost and luatex (or xetex)

2008-10-03 Thread Diego Depaoli
Hi all,
from metafun manual, page 157, I took this example

\startuniqueMPgraphic{copyright}
picture p ; p := btex COPYRIGHT etex rotated 90 ;
setbounds p to boundingbox p enlarged 1pt ;
draw p withcolor .8white ;
xyscale_currentpicture(\the\leftmarginwidth,\the\textheight) ;
\stopuniqueMPgraphic
\setuptexttexts [margin] [] [\uniqueMPgraphic{copyright}]
\starttext
\input knuth
\stoptext

but compiling it I get some trouble

texexec --pdf works as expected
texexec --lua drops colors (COPYRIGHT is black)
texexec --xtx gives no output (linux and FreeBSD)

All normal?

I approached TeX trying to solve this nightmare.
I write often legal documents with weird sectioning/numbering/naming.
\defineenumeration helps, but sometime it's not enough.

Why this simple option it isn't 'hardcoded'?

That's clear to me, but my question was about the wrong correspondence
between font names and filename.
As I wrote mtxrun --script fonts --lists showed filenames which I
didn't find anywhere, so I thought mtxrun rewrote them.
Repeating the same procedure under FreeBSD all goes right.
Perhaps in my Ubuntu system there is more than one Times New Roman,
Arial..., (even I don't know where they live) and this confused
ConTeXt.
Next time I boot Ubuntu, I'll search in the whole filesystem.
Thanks for the answer and sorry for the noise.

For some obscure reason right fontnames are linked with wrong filenames.
This is the output of
mtxrun --script fonts --list
on my system
[...]
times new romanTimes New Roman
   Times_New_Roman.ttf (real filename times.ttf)
times new roman bold Times New Roman Bold
   Times_New_Roman_Bold.ttf (real filename timesbd.ttf)

You must rename the files (tested, it works) or change [name:Times New

I made these steps:
1) set OSFONTDIR in texmf.cnf and setuptex

creating missing subfolders
3) ran fc-cache -f -r -v /usr/share/fonts $MYCONTEXTFOLDER

A little issue when $MYCONTEXTFOLDER and files to build aren't on the

[NTG-context] Luatex arranging

2008-06-30 Thread Diego Depaoli
Wolfgang and Hans have just solved a problem and I'm here again to ask for help.
Is arranging already supported in Luatex?
If I call context --arrange (undocumented) with the following simple
code I get the toc, but the text is only on the left side of the
paper.

\setuppapersize[A5][A4,landscape]
\setuparranging[2UP]
\setuplist[section][alternative=c]
\starttext
\placelist[section]
\section{One}
\dorecurse{15}{\input ward}
\section{Two}
\dorecurse{10}{\input knuth}
\section{Last}
\dorecurse{20}{\input tufte}
\stoptext

Without further details, I can confirm it.
Before go to the bed I launched twice 'context myfile' and compilation

Myfile is a simple (malformed of course) tex file.
It looks like the code suggested here (thanks again Wolfgang)

causes this issue, but I'm unsure.

Re: [NTG-context] context minimals installation

2008-06-23 Thread Diego Depaoli
Due the differences between csh and bash I argued a bit with system
variables set by setuptex.
That's my .login
setenv TEXROOT /home/diego/tex
setenv TEXPATH  /home/diego/tex
setenv TEXOS  texmf-freebsd
setenv TEXMFOS  /home/diego/tex/texmf-freebsd
setenv PATH /home/diego/tex/texmf-freebsd/bin:$PATH
setenv TEXMFCACHE /home/diego/tex/texmf-cache
and until now all works fine.
May be TEXMFLOCAL and OSFONTDIR are missed, but I ask...
are all those variables set by setuptex still needed?

Thanks, 9pt was my original choice, but someone complained about this size.
In the meanwhile I got another problem.
The central page of this booklet should contain a text which fits an
A4 sheet so we will have
[A5][A4, landscape] papersize on pages 1-8, 2-7, 3-6 and [A4,
rotated][A4,landscape] in pages 4-5.
My trivial code (obviously) doesn't work and searching wiki and ml
didn't give much help:

\setuppapersize[A5][A4, landscape]
\setuparranging[2UP]
\startpostponing[4]
\setuppapersize[A4,rotated][A4,landscape]
\input knuth
\page
\stoppostponing
\startext
\dorecurse{50}{\input hawking}
\stoptext

How can I achieve the desired result?

Thanks in advance

In a world without firewall rules that would a good compromise :-)

About the topic...
even I don't like prepackaged softwares, we cannot forget that most
users want download, doubleclick, install and run without other
noises, so I agree with Andrea's thoughts, but ConTeXt has a
complicated structure/hierarchy (updated often) which doesn't make
easier the job.
Furthermore let me doubt that a simplified installation it's enough to
persuade new users since ConTeXt requires manuals reading which is
universally considered a waste of time.

Ubuntu or Mandriva.are good choices for ex-windows users,

[NTG-context] Footer issue

2008-06-05 Thread Diego Depaoli
Hi all,
why \setupheader[text][after=\thinrule] and
\setupfooter[text][before=\textrule] both work,
but \setupfooter[text][before=\thinrule] doesn't work?
Cheers

Try this
a) open in vi/vim first-setup-sh
b) apply these changes
:62s/$platform/linux-64
:66s/force/force\ --platform=linux-64
c) save
d) rerun first-setup.sh

You're right.
Ubuntu's version is dated september 2007, Opensuse january 2007 and
FreeBSD (tetex) 2005!

Many thanks, it works.

I don't remember this option...

[NTG-context] Different os, different output (and other)

2008-03-31 Thread Diego Depaoli
Hi all,
compiling these instructions
\defineenumeration[parte][location=left,text=Titolo,headstyle=bold,stopper=.,width=broad,number=yes,conversion=Romannumerals]
\defineenumeration[articolo][location=left,text=Articolo,stopper=.,width=broad,number=yes]
\defineenumeration[subarticolo][after={\blank[small]},before={\blank[small]},text=,location=inleft,width=broad]
\defineenumeration[altec][location=left,text=Allegato,headstyle=bold,stopper=.t,width=broad,conversion=Characters]
\defineenumeration[subaltec][after={\blank[small]},before={\blank[small]},text=,location=inleft,width=broad]
only under ubuntu the result is as expected:
I,1,1,A,1
while under opensuse and freebsd i get
1,1,1,1,1
Why this?

Another little question
If in defineenumeration[anenumeration] I specify text={\bfc Title}
and
\startanenumeration{\bfc The History}\stopanenumeration
Title and The History are not properly aligned (The History is in
higher position).
What's wrong?

Thanks in advance
