{\mi\cap\tfx INTRO}
 gives Undefined control sequence ...

 Try this:  {\cap\tfx INTRO}

Hi,

Thanks for the answer, that was the cause.

Why \mi, \mc and others are not usable anymore? My intention was to
select medium italic and medium condensed variant of the font.

Please, advise me, how to switch to condensed (and possibly medium)
variant of the font.

[NTG-context] Place figure here; jumping over sections

2012-12-04 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hi,

How to specify that I prefer to place figure here in the following code?

\startplacefigure
\externalfigure[settings_window.png][scale=1000]
\stopplacefigure

I don't understand, why figures are encouraged to jump across sections
and subsections? It makes no sense. Is there a way to prohibit this
(e.g., flush all figures at section end, possibly for the cost of white
space at page bottom)? At least I could see where problems are, instead
of keeping an eye whether figures still belong to their sections.

[NTG-context] ConTeXt Minimal Installer for Windows

2012-11-30 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

New version of ConTeXt Installer for Windows is available (v1.4).

It is a GUI wizard of small size ( 2MB), which downloads latest context
distribution, sets PATH for binaries, and generates format files. Then
ConTeXt works out-of-the-box.

Together with TeXWorks tool, it takes a few minutes from beginning of
installation to writing your first document.

Works fine for all Windows versions.

Known issues:
On my Windows 8 machine, post-install 'make' fails, but it can be run
manually then.

Thanks to Mojca for her help.

Re: [NTG-context] ConTeXt Minimal Installer for Windows

2012-11-30 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hi again,

 is it possible to add an option to NOT add path to Ctx binaries to PATH?
This may collide with TeXLive users, and also when one switches among
more Ctx versions.

There is such an option, uncheck Set environment variables globally.

BTW: Where the new installer is available?

I hope it will be added to new server distribution folder. (I asked

Re: [NTG-context] Unresolved third-party modules

2012-11-29 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hi,

Wolfgang, I believe it doesn't matter what parameter is, because the
files are downloaded successfully. I use not first-setup.sh, but my own
Windows installer.

One thing that is different from the last time I updated my Context
(more than year ago), is texmf-modules folder in the root.

So, now the path to fullpage is
D:\contextminimal\texmf-modules\tex\context\third\fullpage
while it was
D:\contextminimal\texmf-context\tex\context\third\fullpage

Maybe texmf-modules is not registered in the tree for some reason?
Maybe, it needs a separate environment variable set, e.g. TEXMODULES??

\song{Girl From Ipanema}

\placelistofsongs[criterium=all,command=\SongEntry]

Re: [NTG-context] Alphabetical sort

2011-10-07 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Fantastic snippet, thank you Wolfgang!

My original code is a bit more complicated, it often (but not always)
involves artist, tempo and tonality data, like this

\define[1]\artist{{\itx #1}}
\define[1]\bpm{{\tfx #1 bpm}}}

...

\item Sway
\artist{Pussycat Dolls}
\bpm{136-138}
\item Fly me to the moon \key{Em}
\artist{Julie London}
\item Hit the road jack \key{Am}
\artist{Ray Charles}
\bpm{94}
...

How can I incorporate this optional data into song? My guess \song{Hit
the road jack \bpm{94}} does not work.

The only thing I wish that there was more information about mathcolumn

with \startmathcases ... \stopmathcases you get a curly bracket to the
left of ..., see [1]. If you just want to have multiline equations,
then \startalign ... \stopalign could be want you need (it's also on

[NTG-context] How to invoke Unicode symbols?

2011-01-09 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hi,

How to invoke pre-defined Unicode symbols?

E.g., in symb-uni.tex I see

\startsymbolset[Unicode Musical] % 0x2600: Requires UnicodeRegular26

   \definesymbol[QuarterNote][\USymbChar{38}{105}] % QUARTER NOTE
   \definesymbol[EighthNote][\USymbChar{38}{106}] % EIGHTH NOTE
...

\symbol[QuarterNote] gives me words QuarterNote, and \QuarterNote is
an invalid sequence.

P.S. http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Reference/en/symbol is empty :(

[NTG-context] page numbering with make-up-pages

2010-06-17 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hi,

Please, I need urgent help with page numbering!

I begin my document with three standardmakeup pages, and expect fourth
(normal) one to have number 4. But it is 1, whatever I do. In
particular, \setuppagenumbering[number=4] has no effect.

In other words, I need numbering from the very first page.

Please, see attached file 0.tex.

\startFLOWcell
\shape {5}
\location {2,2}
\text {This should bigger and on the center}

[NTG-context] Removing Introduction section number

2010-06-06 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hello,

It might be 100 time this question appears on the list, but I cannot
find the answer.

I need Introduction to have no number, and next section to have number
1, so on. My current solution gives me number 2, instead.

Please, look what should be done with my code:

\starttext
\setupindenting[yes, big, first]
\setupheads[indentnext=yes]
\setupfloats[indentnext=yes]

\setuphead[section][number=no]
\section{INTRODUCTION} % should have no number

The syllabus on each discipline is a must for successful teaching
process organization according to the European Credit Transfer System.
Teachers and students are to be familiarized with it. Grading system is
an integral part of the syllabus and provides for assessment of
student’s knowledge and skills during current, module and semester checks.

Grading procedure is performed according to the national grading scale
and European Credit Transfer System grading scale.

\setuphead[section][number=yes]
\section{REFERENCE NOTES}  % should have number 1

\subsection{Aim of the discipline}  % 1.1

\subsection{Tasks for learning the discipline} % 1.2

\section{DISCIPLINE CONTENT}  % should have number 2

[NTG-context] How to not propagate head settings?

Re: [NTG-context] How to not propagate head settings?

2010-06-06 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky
Thanks, current state of affairs is not bad (maybe even better then
not-propagating alternative), but it's always good to have another
option, like

\setuphead[section][textstyle=WORD, style={\bfa}, align=center,
propagate=no]

\setuphead[subsection][style={\bf}]

:)

Another question - I try to make a macro for a filled in date.

Empty date is ok
\def \FillInDate {\hl[2]\hl[4]\hskip1mm 20\hl[2]\hskip.5mm}

\starttext
\FillInDate
\stoptext

But my printing date under lines is a mess. In particular, I want to
add a bit more space around numbers, but anything I do, the space is not
underlined for some strange reason. In contrary, month and year are
glued together, while I want them to be separated by space.

\def \FilledDate#1#2#3 {\underbar{ #1 }\hskip5mm\underbar{#2}\hskip5mm
\underbar{#3}\hskip.5mm}

\starttext
\FilledDate{06}{05}{2010}

Re: [NTG-context] Removing Introduction section number

2010-06-06 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

There are two cases:
1. You want Introduction in the table of contents. Then you should copy
section to another head, and setup it with number=no (have no time to test):

\definehead[secnonum][section]
\setuphead[secnonum][number=no]
\secnonum{Introduction}

2. You don't want Intruduction in the table of contents. Then just use
\subject{Introduction}.

Thank you too!

I do want Introduction to be in the contents! Maybe, its easier to setup
\subject so that it will be included, then to invent new keywords?

Hi,

Looks very impressive. A lot of code )

Is it usable under Windows? Never run Python scripts before.

Hi all,

after spending many hours on a typescript only to accidentally delete
it, I thought that there should be a better way to write them. Hence I
wrote a python script to do just that.

[NTG-context] Syllabus title page (newbie problems)

2010-05-31 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hi,

I'm making my syllabus title page with standard bureaucratic elements,
like signature stamps, etc.

Please, look at the attached png file for idea how it should look like.

I started new page using \startstandardmakeup, which centered the text
too. But I have problems with signature: how to reset the alignment to
left, and, more important, how to place two \fillinrules in one line of
text (_day__month_ year)?

Now my script looks as follows:

---

\setupbodyfont[mscore,rm,14pt]
\usemodule[fullpage][style={cm,headings}]

\starttext

\startstandardmakeup[doublesided=no,align=center,style={\switchtobodyfont[ss,18pt]}]
   \setupbackgrounds[header][text][background=]
   \setupindenting[none]
   \setupinterlinespace[28pt]
%   \let\\=\blank

{\bf NATIONAL AVIATION UNIVERSITY}

INSTITUTE OF ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL SYSTEMS

Airspace control systems faculty

Aviation computer-integrated complexes department

\startstandardmakeup[align=left] %is there better command for this?
\setupnarrower[left=12cm]
\startnarrower[left]
Approved

Deputy Rector for Academics

\fillinrules[]{}{A.Polukhin}

\fillinrules{}{}\fillinrules[]{}{\currentdate[year]}\par  %have
problem here: need to keep two rules on one line

\stopnarrower
\stopstandardmakeup

\par\vfill
   {\tfx Kiyv \currentdate[year]}
   \stopstandardmakeup

\stoptext

[NTG-context] stelinterliniein

2010-05-30 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Hello,

What \stelinterliniein means in the following (taken from Skdk style).

\def\StartTitlePage%
  {\startstandardmakeup[doublesided=no]
   \setupbackgrounds[header][text][background=]
   \switchtobodyfont[ss,18pt]
   \setupalign[right]
   \setupindenting[0pt]
   \stelinterliniein
   \vfil
   \let\\=\blank}

I suppose that it is \setupinterlinespace, but it does not work without
arguments, as seen in my minimal example:

---

\setuphead
  [Part]
  [number=no,
   style={\ss\bfd},
   page=right]

\def\StartTitlePage%
  {\startstandardmakeup[doublesided=no]
   \setupbackgrounds[header][text][background=]
   \switchtobodyfont[ss,18pt]
   \setupalign[right]
   \setupindenting[0pt]
   \setupinterlinespace
   \vfil
   \let\\=\blank}

\def\StopTitlePage%
  {\vfill
   {\tfx Version \currentdate[year,-,mm,-,dd] }

   \stopstandardmakeup
   }

\def\TitlePage#1{\StartTitlePage\Part{#1}\StopTitlePage}

\starttext

2010-05-30 Thread Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

Thank you, Wolfgang, with this correction it works fine!

A few questions, if you don't mind:

1) what \setupinterlinespace
\let\\=\blank
means? I thought this setup can accept only values in brackets; I don't
understand this construct.

2) Why I cannot use Part (with capital P)?

3) I took the example from the wiki. Is the example still valid (even
for  MkII)?

Best Regards,
Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky

ConTeXt has for headers the key 'placehead' which controls
whether a header (placehead=yes) is shown or hidden (placehead=no)
but there is a third value (placehead=empty) which use the page key
for the header but hides the header itself. The default setup for
\part has the empty value for placehead and to show the content
you have to set

\setuphead[part][placehead=yes]

Hi Wolfgang,

 \startmakeup is the internal command for \startstandardmakeup which is
 created with \definemakup[standard].

Thank you for making this more clear.

1) \startstandardmakeup is extensively used but not found in the wiki
command reference. Why?

2) What \startstandardmakeup do then? And what is the purpose of
defining custom makeups?

Hope this help me an other ConTeXt users ;)

[NTG-context] fullpage still not preset in minimals

Long time ago I asked about including fullpage module into the standard

module still not present in either beta nor current minimal

makes setting up page layout 10 times easier.

Re: [NTG-context] How to use musical symbols from a font

Hi,

Thanks, Willi, for the idea, but I cannot get it to work. My version of

\symbol[box]

gives the following error (I have Wingdings.ttf in my Windows/Fonts folder):

!define font: forced type ttf of Wingdings not found
!define font: font with name Wingdings is not found
!define font: unknown font Wingdings, loading aborted
! Font \thedefinedfont=Wingdings.ttf at 12pt not loadable: metric data
not found or bad.

   \relax
\symbolicsizedfont ...cale \scaledfontsize \relax
  \thedefinedfont
\getglyph #1#2-{\symbolicfont {#1}

  \relax }\relax
\donormalsymbol ...bol \redosymbol \currentsymbol
  \fi \fi
to be read again
   \stoptext

?

The approach to using symbols could be done along the following line:

\definefontsynonym[Dingbats][uzdr]
\definesymbol[box][\getglyph{Dingbats}{\char113}]
\def\Check%
{{\tfa\symbol[box]}}

A-ha!

The solution that file name should be wingding.ttf versus wingdings.ttf.

OSFONTDIR is ok, my installer sets it properly :)

Thanks for help. works perfectly.

I only cannot understand what the following do:

\def\Check%
   {{\tfa\symbol[box]}}

Apparently the font is not found. So make sure that TeX can find the font.
Probably you need to check whether the OSFONTDIR is set correctly. Otherwise
copy the to a place e.g. texmf-local en run luatools --generate.

I hop this helps.
