Thanks Hans!
Actually in order to typeset a document I was finishing, I modified
context.mkiv at line 490 in the following way:
%\loadmarkfile{publ-old}
\loadmarkfile{m-oldbibtex}
and then could finish… Nevertheless I’ll update again in a few hours.

 Dear list,

Indeed the binary doesn't even work on the same machine where it has
been compiled. Sorry for that. I get the following error:

 luajittex --version
luajittex: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3.4' not found (required
by luajittex)
luajittex: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required by luajittex)
luajittex: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.11' not found (required by
luajittex)

I added Alan's binary now, but I currently don't have a suitable linux
box to test whether it works.

On top of that I forgot to fix the auto-update script to fetch the
latest binaries (again I have an appropriate person to blame for
making me upgrade the SVN repository to the latest version, even
though that didn't really solve the problem with apparently
broken/buggy SVN ;).

I have recompiled all of the binaries on linux 32-bit and sent them to
Mojca. Both luatex and luajittex work (on my system).

This is LuajitTeX, Version beta-0.78.1-2014010720 (TeX Live 2013/dev)
This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.78.0-2014010116 (TeX Live 2013/dev) (rev

Not by me, at least, I separated the file into mkii and mkiv, which is
cleaner anyway. But a tiny word wof warning would have been welcome...

type-gentium.tex anyone?

We need to fix it before TL 2013 release.

But a tiny word wof warning would have been welcome...

I agree with that one. But apart from the modules that can easily be
fixed, I use it in many of my (non-mkiv-specific) documents to setup
the typescripts. I don't mind changing the keyword, but it would be
nice to have a simple command available for making small snippets of
code dependent on the engine. (LaTeX has \ifXeTeX, \ifLuaTeX for
example.)

You can use

  \startmode[*mkii]

or

  \startmode[*mkiv]

to write different code for MkII and MkIV. With the counter \texengine
you can also check for the engine, one is pdfTeX, two is XeTeX and
three is LuaTeX.

That's not mkii but the metafun mpii format generation. I kept that till
now because one never knows is mp has been updated. Todays mpost has no
format so that's why it looks like it 'fails' but can can just ignore
it. I've now commented the metafun default format generation in texexec
(as by now we may assume the latest mpost to be used).

The problem was a failure of rsync server on pragma. I was fetching from
rsync -a rsync://ctx.pragma-ade.nl/beta/
and that one seems to be down at the moment.

I changed to http mode now.

Ah, sorry ... we have been cleaning up the routers and as I couldn't

I’ve asked it already, bun since I got no answer … Would it be possible to
expand the the cross referencing mechanism, so that it would be possible to
store the component files in a subfolder? Here is a test:

Thanks in advance

Re: [NTG-context] latest Context Minimals Installer for Windows

2011-10-05 Thread Mari Voipio
Hello!

To whom it may concern - here is the latest version of Context Minimals
Installer for Windows, now working under Windows 7.

I tried this one on a 32-bit Windows XP this morning. It didn't get
everything done, but the ConTeXt download went pretty well and got
almost done before it hung. Unfortunately I had to leave for work, so
I didn't have time to check if the installer put the ConTeXt path
where it should be (probably, at least for me, although I asked it to
do it for all users), but at least the directories got created and
seemed to had the correct contents. I took a screen capture of the
error message, but it is on that computer and can't be accessed until
this evening. However, if I recall it correctly, the error message was

Generating formats failed. Error code 2.

Sounds like an error message from ConTeXt itself. And I'm not sure
format generation is needed any more; when I updated my laptop
manually (with first-setup.bat), I never did them as Hans said it
isn't needed. It looks like the Windows part of the installer works
fine, all directories are created ok etc. etc, so the problems in the
installer may be surprisingly easy to fix.

BTW, although the --extras command is now replaced by --modules, the
old command seemed to work as I did get some content into my
texmf-modules directory. But of course it'd be smart to fix that at
the same time as the rest of the problems.

NB. My user id on that Win XP computer has admin privileges by
default, so the installation itself didn't need any extra credentials
(which was a bit of a problem in my Win7).

Mari

2011-09-12 Thread Philipp A.
Thank you both!

We should get the TikZ devs to accept patches already. does anyone know
anyone who has CVS access?

Apart from Aditya’s hack, I’d also like to see Joseph Wright’s
hackhttp://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/27952/cmyk-context-colors-in-tikz/27955#27955for
ConTeXt’s CMYK colors in TikZ. Maybe we should create a module from
user-created TikZ hacks that make it work better with ConTeXt, and link to
it on ConTeXtgarden?

PS: Aditya, does your module provide everything you’d expect? like
\tikzstyle, \usetikzlibrary[something], \tikz\node{};, …? I don’t exactly
know the inner workings of plain TeX…

 Hi all,

just as a followup and for the mailing list archives, the solution is
to use both Aditya's suggestion to turn on \donknuthmode, as well
replacing the signs with their interpretations, namely
\pgfmatrixnextcell. Thank you Aditya for the suggestion.

umm, i can’t seem to get it to work. i use the mkiv minimals…

no combination of \donknuthmode, \nonknuthmode, \pgfmatrixnextcell and
“replace ampersand=foo”, that i tried, seems to work.

can anyone give me a minimal example of a working tikz matrix in a context
document? (preferrably something that prevents me from littering everything
with “\pgfmatrixnextcell”)

thanks,

One way around this is to re-read part of tikz module code under the right
catcode regime (ideally this should be done by t-tikz). I still cannot get
to work, but using \ is a reasonable shortcut.

Here is a working example:

\usemodule[t-tikz]
\usetikzlibrary{matrix}

\unprotect
\ReadFile{pgfmodulematrix.code.tex}
\protect

\starttext
\tikzstyle{description}=[fill=white,inner sep=2pt]
\starttikzpicture
\matrix(m)[matrix of math nodes,
  row sep=3em, column sep=3em,
  ampersand replacement=\,%% AM: Added this.
  text height=1.5ex, text depth=0.25ex]
   {x \ y\\
z \ u\\};
\path[-]
  (m-1-1) edge node[description] {$*$} (m-1-2)
  edge node[description] {$*$} (m-2-1)
  (m-1-2) edge[dashed] node[description] {$*$} (m-2-2)
  (m-2-1) edge[dashed] node[description] {$*$} (m-2-2);

A slightly more robust solution is to load the attached module instead of
t-tikz. (It also patches \usetikzlibrary). However, I cannot figure out
what is the expected catcode of inside a tikz \matrix. So, you will
still need to use amserand replacement=\.

Note that this sets the catcode of ! to other (as expected by tikz). In
the past, circuittikz has some troubles with the catcode of !.

[NTG-context] Latest beta not working.

2011-05-06 Thread Bart Wise
If I run context with no arguments, I get the following output (and
nothing else):

mtxrun | unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua'

The file, mtx-context.lua does exis:

/home/bwise/context/20110505-beta-extras/tex/texmf-context/scripts/context/lua/mtx-context.lua

If I do an strace, it's looking for the following:

open(/home/bwise/context/20110505-beta-extras/tex/texmf-linux-64/bin/mtx-context.lua,

Otared,

Thanks for the response.

I installed like I always do with the following two commands:

./first-setup.sh --extras=all

I always do this in a new directory on a Linux system.

Did you try and run

mtxrun --generate

manually? If this doesn't help: last week, I encountered a
similar problem on linux-ppc. I was completely baffled
because mtxrun always reported that it couldn't find
anything. In the end, I discovered that the luatex binary
was missing the execute bit. So check this as well.

2011-04-21 Thread Marco Pessotto

Sorry to bring this up again, but something looks wrong with the
deletion of the stmary10 fonts from the minimals tree, as the fonts seem
to be called in 2 places:

./tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/s-map-10.mkiv
./tex/texmf-context/tex/context/fonts/lm-math.lfg

but stmary10.afm doesn't exist any more in the tree. I searched the mail
archive without success about the deletion of the fonts.

Minimal example:

\setupbodyfont[11pt,libertine]
\starttext

\stoptext

Log message:

[NTG-context] Latest beta, missing stmary10 while loading fallback modern

2011-04-12 Thread Marco Pessotto

Hello there.

Given the following minimal example:

\setupbodyfont[11pt,libertine]
\starttext
test
\stoptext

(where the libertine don't have the math fonts)

In the logs I found the following problems:

fontsfallback modern mm 11pt is loaded
fontsdefining forced type afm of stmary10 not found
fontsdefining font with asked name 'stmary10' is not found using
lookup 'file'
fontsvirtual math unable to resolve name mapsfromchar
fontsdefining forced type afm of stmary10 not found
fontsdefining font with asked name 'stmary10' is not found using
lookup 'file'
fontsdefining forced type afm of stmary10 not found
fontsdefining font with asked name 'stmary10' is not found using
lookup 'file'

While I was updating the minimals I noticed the deletion of stmary10.
Until April 3rd this problem (even if so far I didn't encounter
compilation errors) wasn't present.

Best regards

(and cheers for the release of luatex 0.66)

just as a followup and for the mailing list archives, the solution is
to use both Aditya's suggestion to turn on \donknuthmode, as well
replacing the signs with their interpretations, namely
\pgfmatrixnextcell. Thank you Aditya for the suggestion.

[NTG-context] Latest betas break tikz matrix

2011-02-22 Thread Mathieu Boespflug
Hi all,

This code used to compile in versions of context prior to January,
though I can't quite pin down the versions.

\usemodule[t-tikz]
\usetikzlibrary{matrix}

\starttext
\tikzstyle{description}=[fill=white,inner sep=2pt]
\starttikzpicture
\matrix(m)[matrix of math nodes,
  row sep=3em, column sep=3em,

  edge node[description] {$*$} (m-2-1)
  (m-1-2) edge[dashed] node[description] {$*$} (m-2-2)
  (m-2-1) edge[dashed] node[description] {$*$} (m-2-2);
\stoptikzpicture
\stoptext

(compilation error at the bottom of this email)

I thought at first that this was a luatex problem, but I've ruled that
out with the following plain tex file, which compiles just fine in
plain luatex and in plain pdftex:

\input tikz.tex
\usetikzlibrary{matrix}

\tikzstyle{description}=[fill=white,inner sep=2pt]
\tikzpicture
\matrix(m)[matrix of math nodes,
  row sep=3em, column sep=3em,
  text height=1.5ex, text depth=0.25ex]
   {xy\\

  (m-1-2) edge[dashed] node[description] {$*$} (m-2-2)
  (m-2-1) edge[dashed] node[description] {$*$} (m-2-2);
\endtikzpicture
\end

I have no idea what the error is telling me and what could be causing
it. Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Mathieu

[NTG-context] Latest beta: Can't compile a document with lists (with no math fonts)

2011-02-19 Thread Marco Pessotto

I think the same happened some time ago when the not-loading (horrible
word, my english is rotting) of Latin Modern was still an experimental
feature.

Anyway, minimal example:

 start
\usetypescript[libertine]
\setupbodyfont[libertine,10pt]

\starttext

\startitemize[1]

\item fail

\stopitemize

\stoptext
%%% stop %%%

It compiles just fine commenting the first 2 lines or with ConTeXt version
2011.01.26 09:01

While with the latest 2011.02.18

! Math error: parameter \Umathquad\displaystyle is not set.

  \fi \fi
to be read again
   }
...
l.8 \item f
   ail
?

Sorry, but I can't typeset math unless various parameters have
been set. This is normally done by loading special math fonts
into the math family slots. Your font set is lacking at least
the parameter mentioned earlier.

Best wishes

This is controlled by a directive. I will make that default, but because
users can configure it in their configuration file, maybe you should
force in in simplefonts:

\enabledirectives[fonts.autoreload]

That way you will only get a new scan when the mtxrun --generate has
happened.

[NTG-context] Latest beta, simpleslides, and font loading

2011-02-02 Thread Aditya Mahajan
In the latest beta if I use the simplefonts module, the font database is
regenerated at each run! For example, this file

For example with this file:

\usemodule [simplefonts][size=10pt]
\setmainfont[Cambria]
\setmathfont[Cambria]

\starttext
\input knuth
\stoptext

the font database is regenerated at each run. If I replace the
simplefonts setup with

\setupbodyfont[cambria,10pt]

the database is not regenerated. Any idea what is going wrong?

(In my actual document, I am using system fonts, I would like to use

Simplefonts tries a lot of name combinations (e.g. cambriaregular) with
the \doiffontpresentelse command to look if a font exists to find all
styles (regular, italic etc.) and now when when a entry in the database
with this name does not exist (second test above for 'unknown') context
regenerates the database.

Is this a option for you:

\setupbodyfont[mainface]

running texlua -- version works.

However running mtxrun without any option results in a bus error.

Furthermore, I wanted to update the minimals in the usual way with

it executable, place it to bin, rename it into texlua and comment

Thanks for your reply.
As for me there is no need to revert to an older version of luatex. -
Cautiously I keep one tree which works and update into another tree ;-)

Hi Willi,

Two weeks ago I had a similar problem on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard

The issue seemed to be with an old first-setup.sh file: when I updated that
file everything worked fine.
As a test to reproduce your experience, I just created a new folder, copied the
file first-setup.sh there and installed anew the minimals: they work without
any problem here.
Just in case, I send you the file I have on my machine, and you can compare

Best regards: OK

Hi Otared,

thanks for your file. It does not look like that there are relevant
differences with the version I used.
I tried to setup a new tree with your file. The result is the same,
after the first bits the procedure is stopped with the mentioned bus
error.

Kind regards
