I've got an old HP Netserver, an IBM Netfinity 3000 and a whitebox from U-tron. They all work fine. The whitebox was significantly cheaper (like maybe 1/2 the price at the time for a compatible Dell, HP or Compag).

Well obviously he isn't going to find fault tolerance in a laptop, so
that is out of the question. What is he doing on this box?
I'm not familiar with the Compaq desktop series. Never been a big fan of
them.
But you may want to take a look at the Dell Precision WS series. I've
had one, and loved
