We saw seriously slow installs when we had not removed the previous antivirus. We upgraded the servers from SAV 10 to SEP 11 and our expectation was that the install would upgrade the existing, which it did, but at a time cost. It was much faster to uninstall SAV10, restart and then install SEP 1

Without praising or condemning SEP, if you have a large installation, it is well worth your while to get Symantec support to assist you. There is no simple answer to your query; SEP is a complex product with a lot of configuration options and every installation environment is different. Talk to you
