I would recommend not using any of the high ASCII (ALT+255) characters (for your regular user population). This isn't an MS problem, but a user problem. I use high ASCII only on service accounts and other places where I only have to touch something once in blue moon. I had a knowledgeable user

The only time I had issues with high-ASCII characters was at a small startup that had one of the first IP KVMs I had ever seen. It used SQL 2000 to keep track of permissions for logging in, and it really barfed on high-ASCII characters in the password. Wouldn't work at all. Kurt On Mon, Sep 21,
