bunch for all of the assistance! Please let me know if there is
anything I can to to give back.

I was wrong in my interpretation of the information provided by man
udevinfo. Thanks for helping me out with that (-a flag).
My question now becomes: should I worry about the permissions on the usb
device, and if so, how do I correct the fact that udev is not using our

Thanks for the qu

Ok, I fooled around with the driver some more, and if I run:
sudo /lib/nut/newhidups -u root -D auto
I get some output, and the driver makes a connection to the UPS. At
this point, it seems to be a permissions problem (which I don't know how
to fix, with USB).
If I run,

Thanks for the response! However, I am still having trouble :(
As per the instructions in the /scripts/hotplug-ng/README file, I added
the nut-usbups.rules file to the /etc/udev/rules.d directory. I changed
the name and permissions on the .rules file to match the other files.

It's even newer than that. 2.0.4 is the latest version in the Stable

Thanks, I'll give it a go and get back to you!

Hi,
I am new to this list, so I apologize if I make any mistakes in posting.
I am trying to set up nut with my Tripp Lite SMART 1200LCD. I looked on
the compatability page, and some Tripp Lite models were supported, so I
decided to try out mine. I have tried both USB and serial connections,
