An "Eastern Race" Nashville Warbler turned up out of the thickets at Valley
Stream State Park on Thanksgiving Day at about 2:30 PM. Other than that,
land birds were pretty slow except for a smattering of WT Sparrows and up to
3 very vocal Brown Creepers around the mid-section of the Park.
I continued birding this morning after seeing the Ash-throated Flycatcher
and ended up at Floyd Bennett Field, Fort Tilden and Breezy Point. Please
note, that I checked twice for the Cattle Egret, but I did not find it
either times I was at Floyd Bennett. Below are highlights from each
location:
This morning I seawatched from a number of spots between Amagansett and
Montauk Point. Flat calm and overcast conditions made for excellent viewing.
The unusual dispersal of *COMMON EIDERS* is still much in evidence, with
birds (sometimes in their hundreds) at every stop. Perhaps as a consequence,
There's a color banded Herring Gull at the Coxsackie Boat Launch today;
Black plastic band with the Code: "E-51" on its left leg and USFWS band on
right leg.
I sent a report to the Bird Banding Lab. Details on the band report will
follow when received.

Keith Michael and I observed the Ash-throated Flycatcher at the Cohancy street
location near trees by the subway exit sign. (see previous posts for more info
on location) around 9:05 a.m. this morning. Good luck if you go and Happy
Thanksgiving to all.
Good and responsible birding!
Andrew
The Ash-throated Flycatcher continued in the vacant lot on Cohancey Street
between 7:30 and 8 AM. It then flew south across Conduit avenue and did not
return in the time I was there.
