This upper Manhattan park is situated along the Harlem River at the end of
Dyckman St. & 10th Avenue across the island from Fort Tryon Park.

One of my favorite birding books is Bull's 1964 Birds of the New York Area.
The book may be nearly 50 years old, but, I still find it to be a valuable
reference, especially for things like the section on hurricanes.
By the way, this is not a state book-- it covers the area around New York

August 26 - I observed the Great Egret Colony above the Horseshoe Falls
from Three Sisters Islands, Goat Island, Niagara Falls, New York. At 10:50
AM, I could see as many as eight in active Great Egrets. At 11:00 AM one
had left, but I found two more to the far left (upstream) in

Thur.) made a brief appearance (< 2 minutes) in the puddles of parking field #7
at Heckscher State Park morning, just before 11:00. When I first arrived the

front of the Aviator building at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn. This is next
to the field where the Buff-breasted Sandpipers were last year. The Baird's was
present from 6:05-7:40.

On August 25 the Black-bellied Whistling Duck was again seen at 8:15 to
8:30 AM and again at 3:24 PM near Randolph, NY. (about 70 miles south of
Buffalo, NY and Fort Erie, Ontario)
