Thank you all NY birders who posted the Orange county,
NORTHERN WHEATEAR 10/7/11. And to Rob Stone for
originally finding this great bird! I wanted to get it as a state bird.
I had seen Oil city Road posts before, but I never travel east on
Rte 17 during daylight hours.
I arrived at Oil City
Late this afternoon, Bobby Kurtz re-found the *Say's Phoebe* found earlier
today by Joan Quinlan and later located by Shai Mitra. The bird was seen by
Bobby around the same area described earlier by Shai.
I managed to make it to Robert Moses with some light still available and
found the bird
A simple spelling error in that last post, Brooklyn is also known as

Another great find in the sparrow department for Brooklyn (Kimgs Co.,
NYC), reported yesterday 10/6 in Prospect Park was the Nelson's
(formerly called Nelson's Sharp-tailed) Sparrow, which was noted on
the birding blog maintained for Prospect Park and elsewhere-in-
Brooklyn
Still looking to zero in, but here is the dirt road mentioned; it's
called Liberty Lane:

As noted by lloyd and Andrew, Joan Quinlan found a Say's Phoebe at Robert Moses

I had seen Joan there, shortly before she found it, but for various reasons I
didn't learn about it until quite a bit later.

Joan Quinlan found a Say's Phoebe on the beach at Robert Moses near field 2,
but the bird flew off. It was reportedly last seen near the golf clubhouse,
before moving again. Shai Mitra, is out there working on trying to relocate
the bird.
Good and responsible birding!

So, does anyone know what's up with Dickcissel's this year? I've recorded my
loudest one yet this season, this morning, on an absolutely dead night
(migration-wise). This makes the 4th bird over Etna, NY in about a week.
Maybe these are just more common migrants over Upstate/Central NY than I'm
