While (unsuccessfully) waiting for the possible return of the Elegant Tern from
5PM - 8:15PM, we were able to observe a nice collection of shorebirds,
including what may have possibly been a Red-necked Stint. The bird showed up
at 7:30PM and we were able to move in for a closer look, only to

Just had a Northern Bobwhite scampering along the side of Old Montauk highway
just before the entrance to Hither Hills State Park. Ran back into the
shrubbery as my car past it at 50 mph.

The American Avocet continues at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge on the
East Pond. In addition another highlight were a few Stilt Sandpipers.
