Upon arriving at Fire Island on Sat. (10/26), I was greeted by the
resident pair of adult Peregrine Falcons atop the Water Tower. These birds
were gone when I left F.I., and when I past the Jones Beach W.T. later in
the day, seeing a pair
My dad and I spent the day birding the North Fork of Suffolk County with Bob Adamo. We were fortunate enough to be able to study the continuing Rufous Hummingbird in Southold. Many thanks to Rich and Nancy for allowing us to visit their feeders.Afterwords, a walk through Arshamomaque Preserve in

Tom Dulski and I spent several hours birding the perimeter of the Riis park
golf course. It was loaded with sparrows of all of the expected varieties.
Among them were 2 Vesper Sparrows and 2 Clay-colored Sparrows. Funny but the
fields at Fort Tilden held very few birds compared to the golf
