Not seen again but there is so much habitat here. I looked briefly at Field 4
on the other side of the big marsh with no luck. By the way, the original
location was outside and east of Field 8, not 7, where the small cedars are.

7 but just flew toward marsh and out of sight . Will try to re locate it. One

Among a nice gathering of shorebirds and terns on the flats was an
exceptionally early adult Arctic Tern and a somewhat early White-rumped
Sandpiper. On the ocean side our forlorn effort to connect with Pete and
Taylor's Yellow-nosed Albatross yielded a single Sooty Shearwater heading east,

Seawatching from Shinnecock Inlet with Pete Morris and Taylor Sturm has yielded
a slow but steady series of interesting birds, topped by a Black-capped Petrel
arcing east to west. Other storm birds included at least 5 Cory's and 4 Manx
Shearwaters, a Parasitic Jaeger and 7 Black Terns. We have
Highlights so far: Mecox- 18 Cory's and at least one Manx Shearwaters, Caspian
and Black Terns, 11 White-rumped Sandpipers.
Sagg: Baird's Sandpiper and a good variety of other shorebirds. A few more
distant shearwaters.

Shai and I are currently stranded on very windy Block Island (no ferries
running-but not a bad place to be stuck). We've had 4 Franklin's Gulls, 2

Kinglets in the pines, and Dark-eyed Juncos were singing from the shrubs
near the mansion.
