Ernst Mutchnik and I saw the Thick-billed Murre near the end of the west jetty
and then further toward the middle if the mouth of the inlet. We lost sight of
it about 15 minutes ago.
A close Razorbill is feeding inside the inlet, and a female Harlequin Duck is
near the jetty.

In addition to the Marbled at the south end of the East Pond, there are 2
Hudsonian Godwits near the north end. They are on the west side near the second
gull aggregation from the north, but we are viewing them from the east side.

Western Tanager appeared at 11:35 in the sweet gums east of the pond, having

The Brown Pelicans now number 4, and are directly in front of the observation
platform just west of Cove Lane.

3 Brown Pelicans were spotted 10 minutes ago, swimming north of the beach just
west of the tidal flats. They took flight and after some circling, alighted
farther out in the bay, north of the large island that issued by campers. I
suspect boat traffic will disturb them before long

The Olive-sided Flycatcher is at the site described yesterday by Patricia
Lindsay: immediately north of the path that runs E-W along the south side of
the pond, on the western side. Showing white tufts as it preens.

field on Stilwell Woods Park (Syosset), where a larger flock was seen yesterday.

Gannets are moving en masse northeastward past Jones Beach West End. I counted
400 within approximately 5 minutes, between 9:58 and 10:03. All adults. Perhaps
some are coming from the reported aggregation in Raritan Bay.

Montauk, at a moderate distance.
