Fellow Birders;
I once again got out to my local Kissena Corridor in Flushing late this
morning-- overall activity was a bit slower than yesterday, although the
species count was similar. With some work I relocated the western-type Palm
Warbler, this time in paths along the community

Despite the inclement weather, and some obligations in the after, I was able to
get out to a couple of Queens County Parks this morning. I first visited
Forest Pond Park, and when thunder coulds started to come in I beat a hasty

Oops! I meant to say White-crowned SPARROW in my earlier post-- thanks to
Andrew for catching the error. 19 warblers and one good sparrow was what I
wanted most-- it was a "2nd Life" bird for me! Sorry for any confusion!

It appears that spring has finally sprung! James Knox and I spent the
morning and part of the afternoon birding Inwood Hill Park, enjoying an
excellent variety and volume of migrant species, working a tight area at the
top of the ridge, with a detour past the inlet to and

Fellow Birders;
As noted previously by Shane Blodgett, the Say's Phoebe did not seem to
be present at yesterday's location in Prospect Park. Perhaps it is still in
the park, but the area with sumacs was overrun with unleashed dogs; now matter

I visited Oakland Lake, Queens County, twice today, and neither saw nor
heard the Hooded Warbler that was present for the better part of a week. (I
thought I heard it when I walked in, but I am certain I was in error; another
person reported it later in the day, but the

Early this afternoon, Eric Miller and I enjoyed the continuing Hooded

moved to the north side of the Springfield Blvd entrance, in a very moist and

I spent a few hours this morning visiting a few nearby parks in Queens
County. First up was Kissena Corridor (I work the west end closer to NY
Hospital, whereas Cesar Castillo seems to have the east end well-covered!).

Thanks for the overwhelming (and rapid!) response to my query re: owl

Early this morning (about 7:30) I stepped out in front of my mother's home
in Flushing, Queens county, and a large raptor flew in front of me, perhaps 25'
away, and landed in a tree a couple of doors down. Fortunately by bins were
just inside the door, I was able to grab
