Observed at around 1 P.M. foraging in a wooded area. Flew up into the
trees when disturbed by my presence. Unusual for this site and habitat.

This past Sunday Margaret Brace (oh she of Rufous Hummer fame) let me know
of a T.V. roost she had just discovered in Riverhead. As she approached the
intersection of Roanoke Ave & Elton St, she couldn't help but notice the

I have seen turkey vultures in the Nesconset and Stony Brook areas with
increasing frequency over the last two-three years. Had 6 at once in Nesconset
three weeks ago...

thrasher, rusty bbs, fish crows earlier over the corridor and many singing

Driving by the 1st farm field e/o Of the Lewin Farm Store, on the s/s of Sound
Ave, Wading River, en-route to Rocky Point (about 1230 this afternoon) a single
T.V. was circling over the same spot where 2 TUVU's were feeding on a carcass
on 7/13. I view this as a small personal bonus for

At noon today a Turkey Vulture was on the ground, dining on squirrel al
fresco, on a street in Ridge. A rare sight on Long Island, and only the
2nd time we have seen a vulture here other than in flight. Some poor
iPod photos were obtained.
