I spent the day at the preserve yesterday and saw a total of fifty (50)
species. The pond at Merrick Road was particularly active and covered with
ducks, gulls, grebes etc.
Adding to Robert Taylor's email, I saw a dead Great Blue Heron next to the
Pittsburgh Ave. pond. I saw no obvious trauma,
Don't forget to join the Brooklyn Bird Club tomorrow evening.

Jones Beach West End was closed late this morning due to filming of an HBO
special - don't know how long it will last.

Hi Everyone,
Following Peter Morris's report (I don't get tired of Red Necked Grebe
sightings) I was at the lake today since I haven't seen any RN Grebes
before - saw just one today but as Peter noted it was quite a stunner. It
was my first time at this spot and it was really nice there...people
Its all the melting snow leaving uncovered the dead of the winter.
Thanks for the report, also not tired of RN Grebe sightings.
