Today I finished my section of the waterfowl count in the Napeague area
(Suffolk Co.) The waterfowl was incredibly uneventful.
I found the immature NORTHERN SHRIKE along Lazy Point Rd, sitting on the
Osprey nest.
At Hither Hills State Park campground I found 1 American Pipit, 3
White-crowned Spar

Yesterday was the annual New York State Young Birder's Club meeting, a day
spent birding in the morning and evening, and discussing the our club for the
rest of the time in between. Our first birding stops were the Purdy's
Reservoirs, Muscoot Reservoir and Deans Bridge Road, which held

Bennett Field. It wasn't found in the expected location within a flock
of Horned Larks, but rather, sitting alone in the parking lot in front
