There was migration both Friday & Sat. nights, with wider diversity & higher
numbers overall as of Sat, night for Sunday's results. A very modest vulture &
raptor flight was observed overhead on Sunday in addition to the

I haven't seen any Northern Gannet reports from western Long Island Sound so
far this spring, but I did see one bright adult today deep inside Little Neck
Bay off Fort Totten (Queens County), while watching my son's soccer game.
Last year, I received reliable reports of several gannets actively
A female rose-breasted grosbeak showed up at a feeder in Hampton Days
yesterday. Not a rare bird of course, but seems very early.

Along with the much celebrated Ruffs at Timber Point, and early arrivals of
Spotted Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, and Red Knot on Long Island, we've had some
interesting observations of Willets over the past two days.

The two Ruffs continue at the same location. Andria and I made the trip
out to Long Island late this afternoon where we enjoyed looks of the two
Ruffs with several birders.

The YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER found earlier by Danny and Alan, continues

New York City Audubon along with New Jersey Audubon are looking for
volunteers to participate in a heron and egret study. I have volunteered
for the past three summers on this project and it is a lot of fun. It is
called harbor herons. The object of the study is to find out how the birds
are using
