Birding with Eric Miller and Mike Feder today along with Bobby and Colleen
Veltri in the morning for a short while turned up some continuing migrants
as well as a couple of new ones.

Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) found the 2 Ruffs together this morning (thanks
Andrew for getting the word out after being alerted). The obvious male is
molting into breeding plumage. Today there is much more black than in photos
posted earlier. In addition,
Several people looked for the Ruff from about 6:00 to 9:00 this morning
without any sightings. This male was first reported from Kumph Marsh
yesterday evening by Melissa Mance, who secured photos. The shorebirds were
flying in and out Kumph Marsh this morning, so it is likely that there are

After waiting for almost 90 minutes this morning, I finally spotted the
Hooded Warbler at Oakland Lake (Queens County), albeit briefly, as it flew
upstream quickly. I stayed only long enough to alert a couple of birders in
the area. The bird has been seen at the southwest

Marsh at Timber Point LI (see e-mail below for directions) continue today.
Interestingly, Joe described that the Rufus male RUFF was doing a display
when it was near the other RUFF.
