Today between ~ 4:00 & 7:15 PM, I birded Westhampton Dunes Overlook &
Cupsogue Co. Pk.
Stopping at the overlook first, I found 16 Royal Terns, 10 adults & 4
juveniles. One of the young was being fed by a parent, while another looked
like it was practicing its own feeding dive - as it gained

THE BIRD AT CLOSE RANGE FOR 15 MINUTES AND RECORDED SEVERAL PHOTOS. THE SAND
BAR IS ONLY REACHED BY SKIFF,BUT BIRDERS VISITING CUPSOGUE

The Nickerson Beach tern/skimmer colony has simmered down now that most of the
young have fledged and are flying. Except for one Great Black-backed Gull that
