Oceanside 9 May
When leaving the property at noon, an immature BALD EAGLE flew by over the
houses going east. Otherwise, not too much fog, but a persistent mist that
drove me indoors. The CLAPPER RAILS have returned and are calling in the marsh.

Hi All,
I was actually able to bird Mine Rd. from the north today. While there is
a sign at the beginning of the road that said it was closed due to
training, I ran into someone (presumably from the area) who told me that as
long as the gates are open, it’s fine to go down. However, he added th
Cattle Egret still present in Watermill as previously reported, easily seen
from Montauk Highway @ 5:05 pm today.

Last year someone posted that Mine Road, aka Mine Torne Road, was closed. It's
still closed to all traffic, including foot traffic. The official reason is
unexploded ordinance. Just thought some people would be interested

At 6:30 Saturday morning, the cattle egret was present on the Watermill,
Long Island village green on Rte 27, Montauk Highway. It was near the
flagpole hunting insects.
