[nysbirds-l] Late report: Green-winged Teal. FOS on 12/24,Sunday and beautiful views of Rusty Blackbird (F) @ Blind/Turtle Pond on Monday with Paul

2017-12-27 Thread Patricia Pollock

above seen on Sunday, 12/24  SE pumphouse on dyke with cluster of other birds:
No. Shovelers, etc.
I saw it with Andrew Rubenstein about 1:30-2 pm.  Andrew heard about it from
Joanne Wassmer; I saw it swimming in the area from eastside of pumphouse, lost
it, walked to westsidewhere Andrew had arrived and we saw gfreenwing, head
tucked in .
No one reported it..Junko went out to find it and as far as I know, she didn't
find it.  I went on Mon. and didn't find it in that area.  I went to Turtle
Pond and saw the Rusty with Paul.

[nysbirds-l] Top 10 Locations: Livingston County (NYS eBird Hotspots)

2017-12-27 Thread Ben Cacace
Location pages have been created for the current top 10 sites for
Livingston County based on total species seen. Numbers in parentheses
represents the # of sub-locations for these sites.

See link below for images showing several tips on using the wiki page:
• Multiple Locations: Bar Charts
• Multiple Locations: Google Maps Directions
• Single Location: Google Maps Directions
http://ebirding-nys.wikispaces.com/Images_BarCharts-Directions

If you spot any issues with the pages please let me know off list.

Also, could you help verify that the 'Directions' link on the location
pages points to a nearby public parking spot or to an entrance to the site?
Thanks!

Total # of shared locations (hotspots) added is 44 bringing the total
coverage to 1,793 hotspots or 30.0% of 5,982 for New York State.

*Livingston County *
• Conesus Inlet WMA (Livingston Co.) (5)
• Conesus Lake, Long Point Park
• Conesus Lake, Vitale Park
• Genesee Valley Greenway (Livingston Co.) (3)
• Hemlock Lake Park
• Indian Fort Nature Preserve
• Nations Road IBA (8)
• Letchworth State Park (Livingston Co.) (21)
• Rattlesnake Hill WMA (Livingston Co.)
• Twin Cedars Environmental Area (DEC pond), Avon

*GOOGLE MAP DIRECTIONS*
The 'Google Map Directions' link on the wiki are linked to a nearby parking
lot or near the south or east end of the location based on the thinking
that keeping sun behind you when starting out is best.

If you know of a better parking place please zoom in on this location on
Google Maps and send the URL to me off list.

Hi all,

Just had the solitaire fly from n edge of field to the eastern clump off
junipers. Again this is off Sandy Hill Rd near Oyster Bay. Also bluebirds here.

Not far away, had a continuing tiny and silvery Cackling Goose at Gerry Park
(middle pond) in Roslyn, along with a Rusty Blackbird near the eastern creek
outflow at the big pond.

And lastly the Queens Western Tanager continued this morning in the southeast
corner of Golden Pond. No chat.
