It was a quiet Sunday afternoon until I checked the listserve and found Tim
Healy's post re: the Buff-breasted Sandpiper he found earlier today at the
DeLalio Sod Farm on the e/s of Doctor's Path in Riverhead - thanks Tim, for
my first of the season ! Within an hour & a quarter I had seen the BBSA
In addition to the continuing American Golden-Plover reported this morning in
Eastport, I just found a lone Buff-breasted Sandpiper at the sod fields east of
Doctor’s Path in Riverhead. The bird is among several Killdeer in the northern
portion of the field, currently being seen from the interse
In addition to the Marbled at the south end of the East Pond, there are 2
Hudsonian Godwits near the north end. They are on the west side near the second
gull aggregation from the north, but we are viewing them from the east side.

Though absent when I arrived at the refuge early in the morning, the Marbled
Godwit continues at the south end of the East Pond, showing quite
cooperatively. Other expected species were encountered on my journey to the
north end and back, including a few Western, Stilt, and White-rumped
Sandpip
Currently being seen along Route 51 sod fields, one American Golden Plover,
with 36 Black-bellies Plover and a hand full of Killdeer.
Best viewed from North end of metal guard rail ending, close to Pine Meadow
County Park.
