[nysbirds-l] Peregrine falcon - Patchogue

2018-11-01 Thread leormand
A peregrine was perched high above a communications tower in Patchogue village
viewed from the VFW (south of Montauk Highway). This is the tower that ravens
have nested on in years past.

[nysbirds-l] Peregrine Falcon at Udall’s Cove and Pond Park in Great Neck (Nassau)

2018-03-01 Thread matt klein
There has been a peregrine falcon seen and photographed in Udall’s Cove (at the
end of Laurel Drive) in Great Neck Estates this past weekend. A peregrine
(perhaps the same?) was again this morning flying over nearby Pond Park. While
people have recorded flyovers at this park and in the area before, there is
hope that perhaps the bird may be staying local this season.

... to be continued.

[nysbirds-l] Peregrine falcon, Yorktown Heights, NY

2016-05-10 Thread Thomas Rhindress
On my way commuting to work today, May 10, around 10:40 AM got an
unexpected surprise sighting. I was driving south on the Taconic State
Parkway on the bridge that crosses the New Croton Reservoir. Peregrine
falcon flew slowly over and along the bridge 20 feet above the car. Great
view from beneath and alongside the falcon.

The reservoir is the Yorktown Heights/Ossining border

[nysbirds-l] Peregrine Falcon Fledglings - Midtown Manhattan

2014-07-04 Thread Ben Cacace
Yesterday I saw four Peregrines flying as a group over the Met Life
Building as seen from the west edge of the Great Lawn near the southern
steps.

If two of the birds were adults this would mean there are at least two
young Peregrines.

Checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S18981503

The Peregrine nest box is on the south side closer to the west edge of the
Met Life Building, above Grand Central Terminal in midtown, and was
attended to by the adults over the summer and the territory was held over
the winter. This is a long established nesting site for this species.

[nysbirds-l] Peregrine Falcon in Corning, NY

2009-10-10 Thread Jeff Holbrook
Greetings,

Today I attended a soccer game at the stadium in Corning, NY. I had my
binoculars with me as I thought I might see some hawks migrating through.
During the game I did manage to see at least 5 Red-tailed Hawks. Then as we
left the game and as we crossed the mighty Chemung River in Corning, I
noticed a large bird on the southeast corner of the "Little Joe Tower" the
large white tower in town. From the bridge I could tell it was a raptor of
some sort and I had my suspicions. As we got closer I was able to see the
facial pattern of a Peregrine quiet clearly. We drove closer to check the
bird and to further confirm it. It remained there as we drove off to hike
the Finger Lakes Trail at Connecticut Hill. That is another story! :-)

Kind Regards,

Jeff Holbrook
Corning, NY
