New York State Birders,
On Tuesday evening, November 14, 2017, the Linnaean Society of New York
2017-18 Speaker Program will include two exciting presentations, plus an
impromptu “show and tell” in the break between the scheduled presentations
by Paul Sweet. The topic of Dr. Sweet’s show and tell
I drive south on Horseblock Road (Suffolk Co) every day on my lunch hour. This
week, I have been seeing massive flocks of gulls coming out of and towering
over the Brookhaven landfill.

took a photograph of a northern shrike at west end 2 jones beach yesterday
morning at about 10am.it is posted on ebird with some other i saw.

thanks for posting, congrats on a nice find
fyi, I checked today but could not find it. if its still there it was
probably staying undercover from the constant wind. only thing I saw
perhaps worth mentoning was a pair of pintails on the swale.
hopefully the shrike is refound on the weekend

I found a Richardson’s Cackling Goose on an evening walk at Hendrickson Park.
The bird was feeding within the fence by the handball courts on the
southwestern side of the lake. Overall goose numbers continue to increase
slowly but steadily.
