Bob Veltri and I had a brief look at a probable Wilson’s Phalarope from bench 4
on the West Pond 20 minutes ago. The bird flew east into the marshy area in the
southeast corner of the pond.

In the just-past full month of August, the following American warbler species
were reliably found & reported in Manhattan (New York County), with nearly all
having been observed in that county’s Central Park - as well as many in various
other parks & green-spaces, both on Manhattan island
Tonight, approximately a dozen participants counted 211 Common
Nighthawks from the stone bridge nighthawk watch. It included three
kettles of 30 or more nighthawks, including one group of 70 birds.
We also had an immature Bald Eagle fly over the north pond heading east.

When working on the NYS eBird Hotspots wiki I'll compare the previous bar
chart list of species with the current one picking up any additions or
deletions. By going to each county's 'Overview' page you can determine the
date the species was added by county. Some are from newly submitted
checklists
Highlights of the eleven shorebird species seen from the south end of the East
Pond at Jamaica Bay between 5 - 6 PM included:
Marbled Godwit - at the south end, remained in the same spot for the whole
hour. Thanks to the birder departing the East Pond who gave us the heads up.
