There is a Greater White-fronted Goose, along with two Cackling Geese, at
the pond in Roslyn. This is the pond at the end of the Papermill Road.

Four Marbled Godwits were still present about an hour ago on the sandbar at
the Coast Guard Station. They are in a flock of American Oystercatchers and
Black Skimmers, behind the grass.

The Pink-footed Goose continues at Hendrickson Park, with the numerous

I decided to check out the Long Island Sound yesterday and see what was
there. Not a huge amount of terribly interesting birds, but okay. Here is

I checked Gerry Park today and found neither Cackling Goose nor Greater
White-fronted Goose. However, there were four Wood Ducks, six or seven
Hooded Mergansers, and seventeen Gadwalls, in addition to the normal
residents: Canada Geese, Mallards, and Herring and Ring-billed Gulls. There

Tappen Beach today had at least 2 GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS, one of which
allowed me to photograph him while he scarfed down a giant fish. Two
OSPREYS were present, sitting on their nest on a cell tower. The RED-NECKED

I was able to do some brief birding today at Clark Botanic Garden, only a
few minutes from my house. Present there was a bright male PINE WARBLER,
more than one actually, singing plenty and quite loudly. Also there were

Sorry for the late report, but I had some fairly good birding at Alley Pond
yesterday. The highlights of the Upper woodlands area was a GREAT-CRESTED
FLYCATCHER, EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE and NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH.
Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) was a bit more productive, with
really numerous YELL
I saw both the Gull-billed Tern and Piping Plover (on nest) that had been
previously reported at Nickerson today. Also present were Laughing Gull,
Greater Black-backed Gull, Osprey, American Oystercatcher (with chicks),
Common Terns (in colony) and almost certain Glossy Ibis, though it didn't
stick
Also, add very large quantities of Black Skimmers to the list.

Stehli Beach produced plenty of Least Terns, 10-15, very active and vocal
in the roped-off nesting area. Two Piping Plover were with three young, and
were also very active. Two Ospreys were on nests and fishing.

I observed what I believe to be the Common Raven that has nested in Roslyn
in the past today. The bird was over Cedarmere Preserve. I got good looks,
heard the call very well, and got a bad video, which you can see here:

I observed what I am almost positive was a Winter Wren in the woods just
southeast of parking lot #3 today at Hempstead Lake. Very tiny, generally
smooth brown wren with some barring foraging in some fallen logs.

I observed the Red Phalarope last night around 7:15 PM. The bird was first
found in the pool with the wood blind, and then flew from pond to pond
heading East until around 8:00.
