I don't recall that we had to turn anything on. I did check for permissions
but didn't find anything associated with inventory.
The bug report address the development is

Unless the size of the checkin modifier box is limited there is still

Update Inventory is the last one in the check in modifier list. Is it
possible it's getting cut off at the bottom of your screen?
