Hi Serenity,

It's not pretty, but here are the stock permission groups in Evergreen
and their associated permissions:

http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=evergreen-user:stock_permission_groups

There's a hierarchy there with permission inheritance.

For example, every group falls under the "Users" group at the top of
the hierarchy, and the Users group has the OPAC_LOGIN permission,
which means, that every user regardless of their permission group will
have the OPAC_LOGIN permission. There is no way to configure
"negative" permissions.

Also, in modern Evergreen it's much easier to handle putting a user
into multiple permission groups, so you don't, for example,
necessarily have to clutter the Catalogers group with
circulation-related permissions, you could instead make a user both a
Cataloger and a Circulator.

And one more big thing to remember, for most of these permissions to
work you also have to give a staff member one or more "Working
Locations" from the User Permission Editor.

Hi Kathy, thanks so much for the link.

Any little bit helps since we're rolling up our sleeves and diving in.
(Sorry for the mixed metaphor.)

Thanks again!

Hi Serenity,

Welcome to the community!

I believe that documentation is something that was ported over from the
Evergreen in Action book, which was published a few years back. We moved
a portion of the book into our official docs, but there are still
chapters that were never ported over. It looks like the Appendix is one
of the sections that needs to be added to the official docs.

You can see the suggested permissions at:

Thanks for letting us know about this oversight!

This phrase is in almost all documentation from 2.4 onward, but I
can't seem to find this appendix anywhere. I found a list of
permissions in an appendix in the 2.1 documentation, but that's not
quite what I need.

My organization is very small and we'll have probably only 3-4 levels
of user permissions, so it would save A LOT of time to find a list of
suggested permissions instead of going through each manually. We have
Student circulators, Library Assistant cataloger/circulator, and then
me and our Access Services Manager who are the project managers for
this, so we'd probably be Global Admins. Oh, and volunteers who would
probably be catalogers. Though, I'm still not sure.

Does anyone have a similar set-up?

Thanks!
