required for OpenSolaris. It might explain why the
system is running slow.

There's no clear answer for that question.
You'll need to figure out first what application you're using for
streaming. Then consult the documentation for that
Installed Opensolaris 5.11 on a Dell Vostro 200, then installed VirtualBox. In
zfs, created a LUN, then in VB, created a Windows Server 2003, and used the MS
Iscsi Initiator to attach the LUN to a folder, then shared that folder. This
