On the topic,
Does anyone know if the new Phenom (Quad core AMD brand) chips will
have the same power stepping issues as the X2 AMD chips do? Are any of
the newer AMD X2 chip revisions going to fix this issue?
The 0x10 chips (aka Quad Core/Phenom) will have a CPU frequency

It may well be true, especially if you count by applications. But
most applications won't benefit from multi-threading.
Most of the heavy applications I actually

I installed SXDE 9/2007 about three weeks ago on my Thinkpad T61p. Very

Recently however, I've been able to make the system freeze under fairly heavy
load. (Running and testing a Java app on the same machine, more

The problem is that I can't see how that would solve my problem, please
elaborate.
Replace does not work due to my erronous dual c2d0 -- It ought to read c2d0

I had the same problem with Sun Update Manager and SUNWcry. It wouldn't install
in single user mode (when the system is shutting down). However, I found the
patch somewhere under /var and installed it as root in multi-user mode OK and
rebooted. This was with a Solaris 10 update.
