I'm sure it could be improved, but in general I think it qualifies as a logo, while the old version does not really from my perspective. Logos _have_ to be sparse in detail and still expressive. That's what differentiates it from a normal drawing. Thanks to everyone for the feedback (both on and off list), but a quick reminder, please do provide your feedback via the link in the original mail (http://tinyurl.com/OSmascot). This will ensure that your concerns are seen by the team producing the logos, so hopefully another revision can be produced which everyone is happy with. FWIW I do agree this initial logo does somewhat miss the mark and I'm hoping we'll be able to reach another revision which is more in keeping with (and/or more directly derived from) our current logo. Here you have my 2 cents, I think the proposed draft does not fit with what we currently have/want. I'm 100% sure that can be improved but here it goes. Re: [openstack-dev] [TripleO] Your draft logo & a sneak peek
While I appreciate the desire to have stylistically consistent logos, my eyes don't perceive this logo as an owl. Hummingbird, maybe, or a sparrow or perhaps a parrot, but I don't see an owl. The current logo is not easy to mistake for another brand of fowl. >> Dan Sneddon | Senior Principal OpenStack Engineer | dsned...@redhat.com > On Oct 25, 2016, at 11:56 AM, Steven Hardy wrote: > > Hi team, > > I recently received a draft version of our project logo, using the mascot > we selected together. Logo feedback is > due Friday, Nov. 11. I feel the logo draft is missing a lot of the detail and fidelity of our current logo. The draft logo has lines that are much too thick especially in the face area. It's recognizable from a shorter distance than our current logo. Our current logo has more of a cartoon / angry birds type feel to it - something with personality. To me, the draft logo is devoid of personality. I understand why the foundation wants to have more consistency between logos, but I'm hoping this isn't the final design approach. - Ryan > To get a sense of how ours stacks up to others, check out this sneak > preview of several dozen draft logos from our community: > https://youtu.be/JmMTCWyY8Y4. > > The only comment I have made is this logo does lose some of the OoO imagery > we had with the previous owl version - please feel free to provide feedback > of your own via the url above, thanks! > > Thanks! > > Steve > > __ > OpenStack Development Mailing List (not for usage questions) > Unsubscribe: openstack-dev-requ...@lists.openstack.org?subject:unsubscribe > http://lists.openstack.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openstack-dev > > __ OpenStack Development Mailing List (not for usage questions) Unsubscribe: openstack-dev-requ...@lists.openstack.org?subject:unsubscribe http://lists.openstack.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openstack-dev
[openstack-dev] [TripleO] Your draft logo & a sneak peek
Hi team, I recently received a draft version of our project logo, using the mascot we selected together. A final version (and some cool swag) will be ready for us before the Project Team Gathering in February. Before they make our logo final, they want to be sure we're happy with our mascot. We can discuss any concerns in Barcelona and you can also provide direct feedback to the designers: http://tinyurl.com/OSmascot . Logo feedback is due Friday, Nov. 11. To get a sense of how ours stacks up to others, check out this sneak preview of several dozen draft logos from our community: https://youtu.be/JmMTCWyY8Y4. The only comment I have made is this logo does lose some of the OoO imagery we had with the previous owl version - please feel free to provide feedback of your own via the url above, thanks! Thanks!
