a bit off topic but useful to better user and share the 'shortened'
url we get

is anyone aware of a service allowing to 1) update an existing
'shortened' url 2) customize the 'shortened' url a bit 3) has an api?

reason for the third would be that everytime a change is merged into a
.dash file we would update the urls automatically

I can't guarantee this but I think bit.ly falls into those categories.

yeah they have the API but don't seem to allow for editing of the
destination URL after the shortened is created (not for auth users
either I mean)

maybe this is how they want it to work though...

I think if we were doing that, we'd want to actually have a url
shortener in openstack-infra so it was a service that we could depend on
(and preferably set meaningful names).

[openstack-dev] [all] gerrit-dash-creator - much easier process for creating client side dashboards

2014-05-31 Thread Sean Dague
We're still working on a way to make it possible to review in server
side gerrit dashboards more easily to gerrit. In the mean time I've put
together a tool that makes it easy to convert gerrit dashboard
definitions into URLs that you can share around.

The project is called Gerrit Dash Creator -
https://github.com/sdague/gerrit-dash-creator

It has a set of dashboards that I use regularly, as well as an
all-the-specs.dash as I think that Tim was looking for that for
operators. This is an evolution of what I described here:
https://dague.net/2014/04/30/helpful-gerrit-queries-gerrit-2-8-edition/
after learning some more interesting slicing on queries.
