For those in v$resource_limit try the following query which I find useful:

-- Show the resource usage, including calculated percentage values

What would U vote for - linux or Intel Solaris ?
depends on the $$$ u're willing to spend

It's like one of those silly kid games (when is a remote select like a two

Seems pretty weird to me. But I tested it. It takes not only a TX lock,
but a DX lock on the

This note refers to the local rollback segment. The error is coming from the
remote rollback segment. Also, despite 1 GB of rollback tablespace on that
database, this error is occuring when there are only 2 4K blocks in use.

I believe any system running hpux 11.0 or above can utilize this functionality.

Do you do anything like dblinks in these 10 instances? I will have 4

which all have dblinks to each other in one way or another. From what I

don't think its a problem but I am not really sure either.
I also have no idea how MC ServiceGuard will come into play but I put that
Kimberly,
We are using memory windows on our N-class server supporting 21 instances
(mainly development types). For 32-bit applications there is a max limit of
1.75 GB of shared memory resource for all applications combined. HP-UX 11.0
overcomes this with memory windows implementation. And it is
Hello Gurus,
I am trying to install Oracle Server in the environment as given
below. I am in the processes of laying out Physical Database layout. I
would like to know the pros and cons of going with Raw partition.
The environment :
Solaris 2.6
Oracle 8.1.7
We get this all the time when running an ETL process over DB links. Too
much DML on the source table at the time of the extract. No there isn't
supposed to be any DML during the night, but I have remote users who think
that... Oh, heck, they don't think at all!

Can anyone think of a scenario where a snapshot too old on the remote
rollback
would occur with so little rollback in use?
Yes, if we're still talking about remote rollback here.
As I recall from reading this earlier today, these are fairly
lengthy queries that take awhile to run.

How about the delayed block cleanout effect where
inactive entries in the rollback segment transaction
header have been overwritten but the block header has
not been cleaned and still shows the said transaction
as active .. ora-1555 right?

Alright, I sent out a totally innocent question to the list and didn't get a

The problem I'm having is that I don't think it is being reused. It's only two
blocks after all. That's no where near enough to cause a wrap.. is there some
other situation? Someone was mentioning delayed block cleanout.. can this be a
factor? These aren't long running queries particularly

The v$pwfile_users generates an internal error if the client process fetched from
it directly more than once. If only a single fetch is done that retrieves all the
rows needed, then it works fine. An order by clause will allow the sort step to fetch
all rows in a single call, and then it does
